Sincerely grateful for all the kind and thoughtful remarks. It took me a while to decide whether or not to say anything about it around here, but Jim and I were talking a while back about some folks who have suddenly disappeared from the 'Patch, and that we have no way of knowing what happened... I wanted to make sure you guys and gals knew how much I valued your friendship. ...and, hey... I ain't dead yet! I am glad that you did say something. No matter how well one person knows another here on the patch I think it is obvious that we are all very caring souls. I hope and pray for the best for you and your ALS battle. It is amazing how often this disease affects someone you know. Please let us know if you need anything at all. And never be afraid to vent here.

I’m so sorry to hear this Martin. I am fairly new here, but like others have said, you are one of the first to welcome me. I always look forward to your posts, which are honest and caring. I am smoking, as I type, some Samuel Gawith Chocolate Flake that I think you might know how I came by. It is a great smoke I never would have tried. You seem to have a great attitude on your own, but I wish you peace, and I look forward to many more of your insightful posts.

Prayers go out to you Martin, I am a Sunday School Teachers and I will surely put you on our prayer list in our classroom and the church.. Only way to make it in this life is one day at a time.. we never know what tomorrow will bring, and all life's different challenges. I like so many have had so many hurdles to jump, the older we get seam the more we face. I'm learning that old age isn't for the weak at heart.. For me the only way that I can make it; is to have a relationship with Jesus. He is my stronghold and the One I look upon for strength. Looking forward to read many more of your post on this forum. My sincere regards to you and yours..

Hoping all stays well and good for you. I just "met" you a few short days ago, but the replies here obviously reflect a well-respected and highly regarded friend. Stay positive and strong!!

It's funny how a little bit of dried vegetation can bring out the best in people and bring a bunch of strangers together
