I noticed there's a new version of Hellboy coming out. They've replaced Ron Perlmam, but with the make up he looks identical to the Ron Perlman Hellboy.
I liked Ron as Hellboy.

It will be difficult to follow del Toro's version of Hellboy that included Ron Perlman. But, I wish the new folks well. And, the comics are fun and full of brooding colors. I enjoy visiting Mignola's art and sometimes will flip through the comics without reading very much. Visually moving stuff.

I never read the comics but sure enjoyed the movie. Ron Perlman was very good.

I had only seen Hellboy in passing, so I thought when I saw Ron Perlman on Son’s of Anarchy, I thought that was my first time seeing him... then I Googled and saw he was the actor in the non animated Beauty and the beast...there was an old interview (Donahue?) where his mannerisms and speech is so far removed from his “Clay” character on SOA.... the dude doesn’t need any makeup to play a caveman.
Having rambled through all that, there comes a point that age comes into play... Ron ain’t no spring chicken.

I liked Ron, but this guy looks good too. In this case I'm a more a fan of the character than the actor.
I do hope the new films don't have so much of the cartoony, kid-friendly feel as the last two. The books felt much darker than Guilliermo's take. Also, Hellboy always had a tragic feel to it. For me anyway.. Maybe I'm imagining it, as I was 13-14 when I was reading the books. haha

I think you're right. Ron still has that tough old guy thing going for him, but I do not think he is up to an action roll at this point.

I love Mike Mignola. He had a huge impact on my own art as a kid. I had that same sloppy, almost lazy style that has no respect proportion or rules. After years of killing myself trying to be perfect like a McFarlane or a Frezetta it was a revelation to view his work,

I have enjoyed Ron Perlman in all of his works, but it's Selma Blair that keeps my attention.

They favor each other out of makeup as well. I love David Harbour's work on Stranger Things, and this iteration of Hellboy is looking to be a good one.

I'm sure he'll be great as Hellboy too...I'm feeling the same way I felt when they change James Bond.

From what I've read, the new one is to be more comic accurate. I did enjoy Ron in the role though. With his age and Selma'a health though, I doubt a true sequel could happen.

What happened to Selma Blair? I haven't heard anything. From Wikipedia... In October 2018, Blair revealed that in August 2018 she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.[180] She had thought, for years, that she was suffering from minor illnesses or even a pinched nerve, but the diagnosis finally explained her disabilities, including her occasional falling, dropping things, foggy memory and her left side acting like it was “asking for directions from a broken GPS.”[180] Blair was inspired to reveal the news as a way to thank Allisa Swanson, her costume designer who had selflessly become her unofficial “dresser” for Blair’s role in the Netflix series Another Life, stating that Swanson “gets my legs in my pants, pulls my tops over my head, (and) buttons my coats.”

I haven't seen her in anything for a while, but she's got couple of movies coming out, as well as a TV series. She's been active, just haven't watched anything she's in.

I'm really looking forward to it. With the success of Deadpool, hopefully they're willing to go for a dark & cynically funny feel.
