Happy New Year folks! I'm starting the year off with a bowl of year 20016 Stonehaven from a freshly opened bag and smoking it in a straight sandblasted pre-transition Barling Exel 249 Fossil T.V.F. black billiard with a silver band and military bit with a black ebonite tapered stem.

If my year-bridging smoke doesn't count, then my first smoke of 2019 would still be more of the same Wilke 187, but this time in the Ropp Superior bent billiard in Algerian briar. Again, Happy New Year.

My first smoke for 2019 was just St Bruno in a CustomBilt full bent. Not a real out-there choice, for me What can I say, I had a few drinks and I return to an old favorite.

Again, Happy New Year. Great balls of fire, that is some grain. Tight grain, absolutely no fills, creamy red Algerian briar, in accordance to the long ago specifications of the commission for these pipes. For some reason the turned product was never picked up and was kept in stock, undisturbed, in St. Claude, until Sykes Wilford found them during a visit to the facilities. He bought the lot and Smokingpipes began to sell them in their website. I have several of these Ropp Superiors. They all exhibit these qualities and are all fine smokers.
