As far as I know they have all disappeared from Texas. Between the weather and the Mosquitoes it's hard to enjoy a movie outside. They used to fog for mosquitoes before the movie and at intermission. There is one just north of New Braunfels if you're ever in that area. I haven't been myself. But the online reviews are good. And the feedback I've been given from friends that have gone have all been positive. Hopefully I'll make it out there myself some day. I have many great memories of going to the drive-in as a kid with my family. A packed ice-chest and a packed car always made for good times. We are usually through there at least once a year. The last one we went to was in Wimberley. Two elderly sisters used to set up a screen at the corner of Airline Rd and everyone brought their folding chairs They set up a big sheet screen. The real fun was visiting with the other people there. Our friends house washed away in the big flood and we haven't been back. I doubt they are still doing it.

Well, if you're interested, the drive-in I was referring to is called Stars and Stripes. It's located right around the corner from the New Braunfels Buc-ee's. There are 3 screens, each showing a double feature nightly. I believe they have a website. Again, I haven't been myself. But I do hear/read good things about it.

We have friends with a ranch just outside of New Braunfels and we stay with them sometimes. Maybe we can check it out. Thanks.

Last one around here closed in the late 80's; we would sometimes take a pickup truck with lawn chairs; back in to a spot, set the chairs up in the back of the truck with a cooler of beer and you were set. The most memorable movie I remember seeing in that fashion was Porky's! Now it's just a cornfield. Time marches on (queue sad music).

I'm only 27, but there is a drive-in about 30 minutes from where I graduated high school.
Because I wasn't a very creative teenager, I took several girls on first dates there.

Now, I'm very happily married to an adventurous woman who I adore. First dates are a thing of the past, but fun dates are in like Flynn, baby!

"in like Flynn", which is a reference to the amorous shenanigans of Errol Flynn...

I always thought that the Flint movies were more or less spoofs of action heroes/ladies men like Errol Flynn.

There is one by my old house in Missouri, we'd go at least once each summer.
We went a lot when we were kids.
