January typically means frigid temperatures around most of the nation, temperatures in which we are usually spared...not the case so far for the first day of the new year. With our chilly temperatures we benefit by having a great warm place to smoke, by meeting up at a Big Sticks Fine Cigars in Mesa. Always hospitable, an attentive staff and some new pipes in the showcases. Come join us for great libations and great smokes...Hope to see you there!

Bump for those who will hopefully make it, and a big shout out to Charlie for helming this herd of cats.

For what's it's worth. My Misses will be there to supervise you misfits.
Once all is done most likely I will have to take her to Pete's Fish N Chips.
Remember up in smoke "Dave's not Here".

Pete's is a cheap price to pay for your lady to support your pipe smoking, let alone partaking. As for "Dave's not here"... working on it! Flew in from the Philippines a day ago after an arduous 40 hour trip and now owe the neighbor watching our home lunch tomorrow, but scheduled it so I can make the Club meeting even if I'm a bit late. Jet lag be damned! Love your comments, John, keep them and the woodwork coming.

Looking forward to seeing you guys. Bonanzadriver is in town, (Dino) on business, but he flies out tomorrow, so sadly we won’t be able to meet up with him.
In my best radio voice.... “BE THEEERE!”

The meeting went off well yesterday, we had 14 in attendance and truly had some great smokes. When we arrived, there was a poker tournament going on at the elevated deck section near where we usually cobble tables together. The staff at Big Sticks held a room for us with all the big chairs...from here on out, this is how we will do our monthly meetings. Unlike in the pictures, they are going to prearrange the chairs so that it is more conducive to visiting for us and we can have a central table for sharing tobaccos. Our newest member Nick asked about what we are doing for ISPD...providentially it falls right at the time of the week we have our pipe night Wednesday Feb. 20th, so we are going to try and arrange with Paul to get something special set up. That just goes to show that fresh blood definitely brigs something to the table...a lot easier to plan ahead! The staff is very cool and on the job, even though the owner was not there, Brandon took notes of all the required acommodations into the future and the need to plan an ISPD meeting to relay to Paul who always heads to his mountain retreat on the weekends. The Guiness stouts were poured to perfection. Dan the man in the tan, Nick with the best beard in the room, and Rande in the corner...Russ at 1 O'Clock. L-RYou catch a glimpse of John, Gary with his back turned, David in the blue shirt after an exhaustive trot from the other side of the globe..Chris in the green shirt, George in black. DaveinLAX with the spectacles on, and Terry in the foreground. You can barely see Cayla in the background to the left of John.

Nonsense....I learn a lot from them discussions, your insight about the Porsche pipe line was interesting, and I know that it struck a chord with Dan. Now me giving carpet company reviews....that is really beyond the pale.

Wow, sorry I missed the conversation about the Porsche pipe line as I was gifted one years ago and it's one of my truly treasured possessions. Next month, someone, please, catch me up on what I missed! Charlie, thank you as always for taking the bull by the horns on this (mis)adventure of Folks with Habits Peculiar to Modern Society. I must say, no matter who I end up sitting near, I have a wonderful time. Even if I have nothing directly to say about, oh, the making of pens, I still find it engrossingly enjoyable to listen and learn. So, thank you for those of you who put up my punchy, jet lagged self and kept things moving along. And, a special, THANK YOU to Cayla, John_R's lovely bride for not only making AZ Pipe Club ornaments, but saving one for me!! My own bride loves it, too. Take care, all, and hope to see you on the evening of the 20th or in February or whenever you/I can make it again.

A couple of us were thinking at the same time that now that it looks like we are going to have our own room to meet in, maybe after an hour or two, we can move around musical chairs kind of style...the group is anything but cliquish as it is, but I always regret that I do not get to talk to everyone there. It is looking like pipe night will probably be : Wednesday January 23rd, 5PM-? Subject to confirmation with Paul.Next Month's meeting will be: Saturday, February 9th And February's Pipe Night/IPSD: Wednesday February 20th, 5PM-? Subject to confirmation with Paul.Announcements will be made here, Email distribution, Facebook sites, and our newly revamped website...new updated pictures coming soon..if any of you guys have a warrant out for your arrest, let me know so I can blur your picture out. azpipeclub.com/

Next month, someone, please, catch me up on what I missed! You don't have to wait on the story that Vernon Vig told me. He is a international attorney who worked with Butzi Porsche (911) who was an all day every day pipe smoker. He designed the the Porsche Pipe himself.

If there is an expulsion member who wants or need to contact me. It would be a good idea to use another medium. I'm stepping away for a while.
