I mean when I am mad, I've done this for years, I really give myself a good wallop. I don't even know the first time I did it. It just comes naturally. I am mad, I hit myself. Of course, I am always mad at myself for making the wrong decision. Should someone else be hit when I am feeling violent and confrontational because of something that *I* did? Of course not! I remember sitting through abnormal psychology in University and wondering when the professor was going to get to the mental disorder about people who are angry and hit themselves. But he never did. So, at least back then, I got a clean bill of mental health! Not sure about today! ;-)

can't recall same ever. I classified as slightly "intellect slow" due to deprived of a little oxygen at birth to 41 year old Mom. Always feel accepting same & consider myself a "mellow fellow".
old saying....mind over matter. If it don't matter, I don't mind

For some reason, this morning from lack of sleep I decided to beat the 💩 out of myself. If I don’t feel better soon I might do it again!!

I argue with myself quite often and call myself a dumb arse when I do something stupid. I talk to myself all the time and people have asked me about it and I tell them sometimes it's the most intelligent conversation I have some days.

I find if one talks to themselves there is really no major issue. It’s when you talking to yourself and nobody else is around and you get answers. That’s the one’s that wear those aluminum foil helmets with antennas....lol.

If I HAVE to be physical, and it happens sometimes, I tend to beat the crap out of something other than me (doors, walls). I beat myself up mentally all the time with self talk, and that may in fact be worse.
Self punishment has many reasons and forms. Cutting is one, had a family member deal with his anger in that way. People do find release although it's not the healthiest way to get relief.
Something to think about. Lots of options for help out there.

A good opponentless school yard fight never hurt anyone!

My buddy has a phrase that he lives by :"The thing about beating your head against the wall is that it feels so good when you stop". Ted, I tried the foil hat and the Yorkie who normally sleeps in my lap tried to take my leg off. Regular Cujo.

Nobody gets hurt (too bad ) so it is okay

When I was young, I did. haha I had a very short fuse. I remember hitting myself and even biting my own fist out of anger or frustration semi-regularly. I mellowed over the years. The Army really sorted me out. Honestly, a zen experience. My fuse is too long now. haha I have a hard time caring about most things, let alone being angry.

They made me worse ! Crazier! More out of sorts! Maybe I wouldn't be so crazy today if I didn't raise hell in my cracker jacks all those years! My Navy experience was pretty much like this movie, to a tee, except I didn't ever go to to naval prison......

Medicare will pay for counseling for this problem! I enjoy my fights... But I never make it into the second round. I wish they lasted longer sometimes! But nobody wins and they end quickly. Fun otherwise!

I never beat myself up physically, but mentally is a different matter. Cool on the outside, but inside - not so much. I'm a recovering perfectionist - recovering because I'm retired.
