I think they are a lot of energy, like Ed just mentioned. I've a friend who has one. They will lick you to death and need a LOT of exercise. If you're up for that and have the space then what have you got to lose?

The only German boxer Iād own would have been Max Schmeling.

The first dog that ever bit me was a boxer so I am prejudiced. Also, my homeowners insurance penalizes ownership of several breeds and the boxer is one of them. Plenty of good breeds out there.

With all the homeless pets out there, I always prefer to see an animal rescued rather than purchased.

With all the homeless pets out there, I always prefer to see an animal rescued rather than purchased. Yes!!!...Please get a rescue. They are very companion oriented...they "know" that they have been rescued and don't know why they were abandoned...same as you or me would be. So, please get a rescue...they are usually full of love and appreciate your giving them a chance.

Westies are great. We had one many years ago. She went deaf very young. They have a lot of ear problems so get her ears checked regularly.

My 12 year old Westie and 6 year old rescue Lab are sleeping at my feet as I rumble through some TV episodes of The Curse of Oak Island.
We feel very fortunate to have these boys in our lives.

A real German Boxer is a big dog not to be confused with a slobbering American Boxer. That being said I don't care for dogs that slobber but I do love German Shepards having owned several they are very smart and great family dogs. These days we have downsized and a Chihuahua suits me fine all dog and 1/10th the trouble. With a dog the size of Shepard or Boxer make sure you have enough yard unless you have at least a half acre. That is too much dog for the super compact lots they put homes on these days. Dogs need to run and be outside and at night they belong inside with the family. It does no good to chain a dog up in the backyard or worse put them crates. A dog is a pack animal who needs to be part of family. Okay rant over.

Do you speak German? One time in Korea a woman was trying to sell me a kitten and I apologetically told her I adored the cat, but had no idea what I'd do with a pet that spoke Korean. She was very puzzled.

Boxer ate my cat, so I can't stand to look at one, and they always look very pissed off.
