Feeling lousy because I'm not in shape to get together with lestrout this afternoon at Telford's. Getting old ain't for sissies.

Martin, I feel bad you can’t get together and I totally understand just how you feel. It’s happened to me when I had something planned, last minute illness issues popped up real bad. One day I was over at AJ’s, had to leave after a short time due to not feeling well. Don’t force yourself with your illness, you can only accomplish what you can when having a good day. I wish you much better days ahead my friend.

Im sorry for today and hope tomorrow is a better one. Im only 37 myself but reading things here and time spent at my local historical society, I've learned to try and enjoy my time better and cherrish it too. Im not trying to gloat but simply saying some of us younger generation folk are listening.

From a lot of Bay Area locales, Mill Valley can be quite a challenge to get to... either from the east bay or from SF... and feeling sick makes it an ordeal rather than a treat.
I do understand... I was really looking forward to the WCPS when we had a death in the family... it is all about the priorities, health considerations pretty much do the dictating.

Hope you feel better soon, Martin. If Les is staying there for a bit, maybe you can see him on another day.

I know how you feel, Martin...most days are just a challenge to get up and do anything at all. Even going to get groceries is a chore...sometimes we just eat some PB&J to get through the mealtime. So...hope you get to feelin' better...not something we have any choice about...you've got a lot of love coming from, we who make up the Patch...lot of brothers and a sister too. Just knowing we are there for you...any time day or night...hope that adds so comfort to your thoughts.

It pains me to read that. My heart goes out to you.
I'm also glad you feel you can share something like that among us.

Yes, chronic issues will sap you of some, to all, of your socializing ability. I've had to skip out on many a gathering put on by important people in my life due to some of my conditions, though I face nothing like you do.
I guess I'm saying I empathize.
You look forward to it, then you have a set back and have the crummy excuse of, "I don't feel good/right," which healthy people get in concept but not in totality, so you feel you end up coming off like some kind of pansy arse in their eyes. If they are true friends, they will take you at your word, and if they aren't, then the time was better spent reading and finding a friend in a pipe.
Either way, you are correct, it sucks, and it sucks worse when you know things aren't going to get better. But, regardless of what your religious views may or may not be, we all have our path to walk, and how we relate to that path is going to have direct bearing on the quality of our life. Accept it with grace instead of disappointment, and you will be a lot further towards understanding the answer to the question of Life, the Universe, and Everything, than the perpetually rich, successful narcissist, or even the plain fellow who never has to deal with any extreme conditions or tragedies, their or their loved ones, how my heart bleeds for them and the missed growth opportunities.

Martin, at times I have to use two hands to light my pipe. When that happens I’d much rather be by myself, so I know how you feel. I sincerely hope and Pray that tomorrow brings you a much better day. Today when I walk, I don’t feel the ground under my left leg, it’s been happening more often. Tomorrow will be much better 👌👍👍

I haven't been able to feel either one of my lower legs and feet for a year or so now.

adding my good thoughts about your conditions. You were briefly mentioned at the chat tonite and same good thoughts sent.
Stephen Hawking was mentioned. Also awhile back I read "Caddy for Life....the Bruce Edwards Story". Uplifting read. Bests to ya

I hope this new day treats you right. You're on the list of many here that I send prayers out for.
Although I dont have a medical condition, I completely understand not wanting to go out and feeling embarrased.
I wish you well sir.

Yo Martin - I'm likewise bummed that you are bummed out. There was SRO at Golden Gate PC at Telford's, and we were treated to a scholarly precis of Brigg's tobacco. Along with vintage Ports and whisk(e)ys, we nibbled on charcuterie and holiday breads. That club does things in style! Hopefully your week goes better - it would be a bummer not to work in a few bowls. Next trip out, I'm hoping the third time's the charm.
