Mine was the 2005 Chicagoland Pipe and Tobacciana Show in 2005. I went out of curiosity, said I would only buy one pipe. Five or six hours later, I walked out with 7 new pipes and about $200 or more in free tobacco samples. ( And the desire to return in 2006, which I did)

back "in the day" when had decent income (pre getting Reaganized in '89) was able to set aside some decent funding after taking care of necessities. Was what was considered the 1st "real" pipe show in '87. The late BarryLevin Expo near Boston. Won Best Freehand Collection for 5-pieces from Milt Kalnitz, well known Buffalo, NY carver. Was big time encouraged by Rich "Jaws" Esserman, the organizer along with Mr. Levin. If any other ol timers happened to be there, you'd probably recognize me from bei ng side man to Sailorman Jack's x-rated sailor ditties (was the MC). Wish somebody else had been around back then to be at that show. If so, plz reply here or PM me.

I did get to hear Jack's spiel and singing at a NASPC Show before he passed.
My first show was the St Louis Gateway Show in 1997. I caught the bug and have been to over 100 shows which is probably around 300 hotel room nights of smoke filled fun.

Doubt if I ever will attend one. Gotta be like going to a strip club. Lots of beautiful things that I cannot afford or play with, or take home.

Planning on Chicago being my first one this year. It's nice that I'm familiar where it's at as I have been at Pheasant Run several times for the Coin Op shows.

Did the CORPS show I guess about 5-6 years ago. It was great to chat face to face with pipe makers I have conversed with online.

Now, smoking is only allowed outside or in the smoking tent. Huge tent, food and drink vendor, and pipe smoke aroma.

Those are the core days to be there. Usually, Thursday evening until about 4pm on Sunday is when the most people are there.

Since these are always in BIG cities with BIG crowds … count me out.
I enjoy attending the AZ Pipe Club meetings, when I can, and talking pipes and tobacco with a small group.

Don't think I'll get to one myself. Closest would be Vegas. Problem is, I can't stand the noise there.

Now, smoking is only allowed outside or in the smoking tent. Huge tent, food and drink vendor, and pipe smoke aroma. We just chip in on the reduced cleaning fee so we have a comfortable spot to gather at night but I (and the table holders)miss the good old days when the mega center and hotel were smoke friendly.

My first and second pipe shows I went to were both in Vegas, I doubt I will take the trek to Chicago anytime soon. Vegas hits the mark for me, inexpensive to get to, inexpensive room rates, and plenty of pipes for me to see. And, you can legally carry Roscoe with you, Illinois doesn't like me or Roscoe. I like smoking on the floor, don't care to have to sit out in a tent.And..the Vegas show falls on or near my birthday...The opening day is on my birthday this year.

Haven't been to one yet. Unfortunately, didn't decide to pick up the pipe again until after the CORPS show here in Richmond last year. But, I will definitely be going this year, and considering the Raleigh show in April, trying to work it out with one of my friends

I hope to go to the Kansas City show this year. My vocation requires me to work on Sunday, and given I live in the sticks, weekend shows are difficult. But, my son and his family live in KC, so I can take vacation, see my granddaughter, and take in the show. Interestingly, I discovered he lives only a few blocks from the B&M that houses the club that sponsors the show. I see the planets aligning.
