Today, I think the college stations do a pretty good job of broadcasting a wide range of musical tastes, from classic to jazz to indie pop.

Finally hooked up my AVR to ethernet, and so I can listen to a couple other old favorites: WQXR and WBGH.

Any radio station that carried Art Bell's Coast to Coast AM. Art was the man. He's still on Saturday nights here on WHAS 840. The show is called Somewhere Back in Time and uses his old shows, most of which still play well. Art just passed last year. It was initially reported to be pulminary failure but the coroner's report stated opioid and Valium cocktail. It was listed accidental. Art would have appreciated the mystery. George Noory took over in 2002. I believe that's when Coast to Coast cut back from five to four hours. I still catch portions of it many early mornings but it doesn't come on here until 1:00 AM and everything on WHAS until then and after is garbage now during the week so I'm no longer a regular like before.

I used to listen to the local Pacifica station. They had some interesting music. I listened to the Texas Prison radio show for several years when my brother in law was the best lead guitar in the Texas prison system. He is an amazing guitarist. He is back in, but he can't play anymore because of his health complications. Funny, I was thinking about Pacifica Radio and remembering KPFA Berkeley in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The birthplace of "The War and Peace Report", later appropriated by Komrad Amy Goodman, the last media Stalinist. Some very weird things happened around Pacifica Radio and Komrad Amy.
