When traveling in the UK a few weeks ago I ran across a television comedy. Briefly, it takes place in central England in the late 1500s. What is significant here is that the final scene in every episode, no matter how wacky, is husband and wife sitting in front of the fire place, both of them smoking their pipes, and kind of summarizing the whole episode in a couple of quips.
My point is not television, which is not my thing, but just that particular trope - to finish up the evening sitting in front of the fire, with a loved one with whom you are very familiar and comfortable, both of you smoking and gently talking...
And to make such an activity important enough to do every evening...
Well such an achievement would be more valuable than gold, more valuable than an eleven bedroom house on the shore, more desirable than the new Jeep Gladiator (in forest green).
Those of you that have something like this, treasure it with all your strength. It is not something easily found and the richest people would be jealous.

Enjoyed some ham and eggs, and am now smoking the last of this pouch of SWRA in a 1979 straight smooth Dr. Grabow Grand Duke 45 pot with a black tapered stem. A bottle of Sprite is my drink.

The air pocket fill method is ideal for a bowl of Park Lane Connoisseurs Flake, particularly in a fairly narrow-gauged, medium-sized chamber like the one in the Savinelli Bing's Favorite Soirée (in ebony). A baccy of this cut and consistency, in such a bowl, provides a notably free and clear draw when the aforementioned method is carefully applied. Enjoying the results of it now.

Pipe of choice: Original owner...my LHS smooth chubby Scoop pipe with a silver band and a wide stem. Superb smoking pipe!!!
PS How the heck does a thread about the “ Oscars “ get locked. Just unbelievable how a post gets out of hand.......no reason a post should ever head that far off track. Great job Paddy in closing that down.

Pipe after pipe of Dunhill Elizabethan. Can't get enough. This is my first time smoking the blend. If I had tried it earlier, I'd have more than three tins in the cellar. Happy with what I have though.
They make a Match blend right? I can't back out and check or I'll have to retype this whole post. Haha
Hope everyone is having a nice afternoon. I'm gaming online with some old friends from high school. Took a break to say hi. Gonna brew a cuppa, pre-pack a few pipes and get back to it.
Cheers

The Match is based on the older, much better version of Elizabethan. I highly recommend it. In fact....
I'm now smoking Dunhill Elizabethan Match in my trusty 1970s smooth three quarter bend Peterson System Standard 305 with a black vulcanite p-lip stem. Ice water and bergs is my evening drink.
