My 15 yo tiny tabby and I watched that. She kept asking me ".. why are the goggies running around and around? Kinda silly don't you think?"

I enjoy watching the show though the judges seldom pick the same Best In Show that I choose.

I missed the show but for once I would like to see a Black and Tan or a Blue Tick hound win Best in Show. AJ

i missed the Best in Show round. I'll have to look for it online. I saw the terrier group and the Fox Terrier was impressive. I didn't see the hound group, but that clip shows the Dachshund is beautiful and has a lot of personality.

Yup, the Dachshund should have taken best in show......it’s called kissing up to the judges and payouts. I showed my boxer in 1988 while living in Europe, took best in breed......that’s all I wanted. One of the top four dogs I was lucky enough to own in my life. In no particular order....a highly intelligent Labrador, Cairn Terrier and Chihuahua.....ALL were outstanding in their own way....all were extremely intelligent. Never had to walk any one of those four on a leash, even if another animal walked by......just amazing 👍

Them male dogs get fondled a lot.
I always wondered if they are happier for it, or feeling violated.

I happened to be going to Penn Station last year when that dog show was going on.
It was amusing to see scalpers selling tickets out front of MSG, while people in tuxedos and fancy dresses were emerging from limos. Kinda surreal.

I still don't understand how one person gets to pick the winner, but here I go down the rabbit hole of the obsession we have with having to always have endless competitions. One winner strutting around with their finger in the air like a barnyard rooster ( well, maybe roosters don't shove their claws in the air), but trophies, plaques, certificates, ribbons, medals, etc. To hell with all the losers. What happened to a concensus by multiple people? Just like the country we live in, it doesn't work that way anymore.

Them male dogs get fondled a lot. I always wondered if they are happier for it, or feeling violated. I can help on that. The males have to be "intact", not neutered etc. Back in the late 70s, a sharp judge doing GermanShepards did the quick 2-finger fondle, something looked wrong. Had a Vet take a look off-ring. This was a Japanese entry (course filthy rich guy). Dog only had ONE. Somebody substituted a marble size "replacement, sewed all up again. The dog won more than one Best in Show here/there. No other judge took the time to "search" further. Course all disqualified, owner/handler banned from EVER entering any AKC event. All titles for that dog deleted. True story. We showed an Irish Setter back then, that was all over the place, legit papers, scandle sheets. Yep a requirement that there be TWO testes.
we though the pick was outrageous too. An aside, the BIS judge was the renowned Peter Green, considered the top handler for years. Guess...HIS breed was none other than....ta da. rough Foxie (same critter, diff coat). Now that's a "damned if I do, damned if I don't" do the pick.
Bit of info from former dog shower Ed/Nancy Duncan, Batavia, NY

I was just throwing humor in....the first time I saw the woman rolling the dice I asked a person about it...didn't know about the marble though.

Our first Yorkie had some serious ancestry including a multiple grand champion with 2 BIS. Not sure if it was Westminster or another big show. He was cheap because he had 2 rows of teeth, but he was a really great dog. We got papers with our latest little girl, but we never even looked at them. We do enjoy watching the dog shows, but we don't put a lot of stock in which is really the best dog in the show.
