If it's not actually made of a "cereal", is it really cereal? Isn't it "nutiel" or "sugar-and-food coloringeal"?

Why are Cheerios called Cheerios? I'm not cheery when I eat them, more like nauseous. I never thought of them as that. Over here we say, "cheerio" when we're saying goodbye. I always thought of them as being 'goodbyes'. Maybe they are actually cheery Os.... |

Why are Cheerios called Cheerios? I'm not cheery when I eat them, more like nauseous. Cheerios cheer me up. Especially the strawberry ones. |
