I just got this Aonian jar in the mail last week. I forgot it had arrived and just unboxed it yesterday. What a great jar. I liked the glaze and it looked pretty nice on eBay. I am not dissappointed. The seal is still good, and there are no chips or cracks. I plan on keeping a little SWRA in it for now. Any of you collect similar jars, or other types?

It's certainly doing its job aesthetically! Looks great.
Does that lid mechanism serve a function? I was just thinking it would be cool if a jar were adjustable, so it could adjust its volume to get rid of extra air as whatever it was holding was consumed.

Had one just like it...back in the late 60's-70's...this is what is left of that era...unfortunately, I dropped it when I was cleaning it...had to glue it back together...now just a memento of those days. Got this for AJ many years ago...holds his favorite tobacco is what he tells me...mine does, too. This is the one I use...has one of my "children's" name on it as well as my "handle" on forums.

Thatโs a beauty Don๐๐๐๐ I have a few at my sonโs that need to be picked up eventually. I have one from Captain Black and two from coffee manufacturers that keep tobacco fairly air tight, for what they are.

I was just thinking it would be cool if a jar were adjustable, so it could adjust its volume to get rid of extra air as whatever it was holding was consumed. It does serve a purpose. The lid has a brass or bronze knob. You set the lid in place then put the three armed thingy on top, lining the arms up with notches in the top lip of the jar. Rotate the armed thing and tighten the nut. It keeps the lid tight.

That's a class looking jar. I'm sure it'll do the job for your SWRA.

I did collect them. Now they are in a box that I keep moving out of the way. Too much crap in the house.

The jar in this image was given to me by Walt several years ago and contains my own mix named AJโs Blend # 3. It is the only jar of this type I own. The picture doesnโt show the deep beautiful cobalt blue color. I consider it a treasure because my friend had it customized with my name and it was a gift from one of the finest men I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. AJ

I have a solid brown that could be the brother to the one that Walt had. It's from Cross Keys or Crossed Keys in England. It looks like the color of a brown, Brown Betty teapot from the England. For now, I plan on keeping some Captain Black Copper in it.

Want some more? ๐๐๐ค Aonian tobacco jars? I don't know Aonian, but mine are all from Stoke on Trent. Different brands but all of similar design with the metal clamp.
