SO, I just looked at this sale. It looks like they jacked up the price of the reserve blends by almost $4, and the regular blends by $2. So, I added two Hood Canal at $14.79, and a Deception Pass at $12.79 - which one do you think was free? I guess it's still an "OK" sale, but it's still misleading. I'm not buying.
So, two reserve blends are essentially $62, with a free tin for $13-$15. The regular price for two reserver tins is about $53, and a tin of regular is ~$11, which makes $64. You're saving about $4-$5.

They raised the price awhile ago. Pre IPSD they were the same price. Tobaccopipes has the 8oz Special Reserve for $24.99. I had a bunch in my cart waiting for the sale that never happened.
Still save money with the P&C sale so I pulled the trigger as well.

It is technically more expensive today because it was listed at 10% off last week during the IPSD sale. I saw the same thing. I may be in for some PP Special Reserve though, as they ran out during the sale.

Yeah, they raised the price earlier. I only got some because at $100 I got $20 off and I needed a few things like pipe cleaners. TobaccoPipes sells it at $24.99 as an everyday price. Thats the thing about P&C, sometimes they throw a great deal. Other times they play tricks like they're some leprechaun.

So I suppose if you get 3 2 oz tins of same blend your total discount is really about $4-5 (1/2 tin at regular price). Still a bit of a break, but rather deceptive on their part. Note, I'm not buying either.

The thing that cracked me up about the email promo was that claim, "OVER 8 BLENDS TO CHOOSE FROM". Meaning exactly 9. Their marketing people seem really desperate sometimes.

I'll do pipe business with them periodically, but they can be shifty, bordering on deceitful.

I watch a lot of their specials and have got some really good deals. The two Gigi pipes I got were during the Pre IPSD sale but I didn't get the discount. I called them yesterday about it and was told that since the pipes were already on sale the additional discount wouldn't apply then she said she would credit my account the $20.00 anyways because I was so understanding. Can't complain about that.

Well, for what its worth, PipesAndCigars is owned by the same company that owns JoeCigar and CigarBid. That company is Cigars International. They had well known inventory system problems last year, but I think they have mostly been rectified. If someone is happy with CigarBid, they should be happy with PipesAndCigars. All of their stuff goes through the same shipping department from the same warehouse.

Simple arithmetic and the calculator is your friend. I passed on this one...

I had my credit card company recover my funds in three days. I’ve only had to file a grievance with any bank card twice in my life. I’m done with deceptive business practices 👍 PS A friend of mine owns a B&M on Long Island, he will NOT do business with Cigars International. He was billed for a few high end boxed cigars that were not delivered......three times

PS They are all (CI, P&C, Cbid, Cigars etc.) owned by STG including the previously CI unaffiliated Thompson. Almost everyone knows about the great CI POS computer system disaster that affected all companies owned by CI at the time. They lost quite a few customers over that cluster fudge.

In stock, confirmation number given and sorry it was an inventory problem song and dance. Say it once, say it again...if you hadn't problems with P&C only means you are overdue.

I believe Cbid is more reliable. The only issue with Cigarbid came with the computer disaster mentioned before. Why is it different? My guess is the site is better managed, though having a common ownership etc. . They also operate from cigars international's catalogue having been born from CI years before P&C was purchased. Even so, Pipes and Cigars has been good to me. Any problems I have encountered were readily corrected through their customer service department. Bottom line for me is who provides the best bang for my buck? Here P&C has been the bomb for a while. As stated before, I wonder if the PR trip is winding down as P&C sales appears to be less aggressive than before. This is pure speculation on my part, though the next number of months should be telling.

That's 12oz of reserve for $62 yeah, that's if you buy all reserve. That's $13 less than buying 3 tins at other places, so that works. But, if you want to buy 3 that contain non reserve blends, it's not a really GREAT deal. That's what I was getting at.

I have a substantial cellar of McClelland which primarily came from P&C without issue. They have some issues on occasion; however, I'd have to give them pretty high marks overall.

Last I remembered P&C extended the 10% off IPSD deal. Did anyone apply this to the buy 2 get 1 free SPC blends?
I do not understand how one would expect any buy two get one free (or similar) sale to give the buyer the most expensive item for free. This is not how it works. However if the confusion was caused by a communication break down 😁, then the fog begins to lift.

After a few botched orders, damaged tins, and double charged for an order I never received on IPSD a few years back from Pipes And Cigars, I only buy from SPC.
