Proper reviewers close your eyes...
Germain's plum cake is a great tobacco. There's a taste from it that I can't describe. It's kinda like dry hay.
Why am I writing about plum cake?
Because that's what I taste in king Charles mixture. Not sure if it's the same leaf used, but I can taste it there.
There is a little latakia. I can smell it in the pouch, but can't really taste it. It's subtle and I think I'd like to see more of it, if I'm honest.
I can't describe the taste (what a crappy review lol) but I need some more smokes of this one.
I'll report back, but in the meantime, if anyone has had this, can you let me know what I'm looking for?
I could go to tobacco reviews, but I'd rather hear it from you and ask questions if I need to.

I want dark stewed fruit taste!!! If he's referring to what I believe he is, it's the Virginias used. I notice the same thing in HH Latakia Flake.

Your getting a dark stewed fruit taste from it aren't you? Maybe it is. I don't have much experience with stewed fruit. I get a similar taste from Mac Baren's Plum Cake and Solent mixture, but in both of those cases it's rum. In King Charles and Latakia Flake, I'm almost certain it's the Virginias. The other components haven't caused a similar flavor in other tobaccos I've smoked. King Charles does benefit from about 30 minutes to an hour of dry time and I really enjoy how light handed it is with the Latakia.

Most of their offerings are good to go out of the tin.

King Charles is one of a few absolute favorites of mine. Too bad it's so hard to get in the U.S. I've been waiting for years to find some and I'm down to nursing my last tin of it.

This is really light one-paced English which only uses Lat for a condiment. It's not complicated. The Orientals don't dominate either but they come forward more than the Lat. I agree with Duane what you're probably getting is primarily the Virginia. I get raisins from it. I don't mean to imply it's used as a topping but I also experience somewhat of a molasses taste which I would guess is a direct natural result of the portions of the different tobaccos used. I actually prefer just mindlessly sipping on this one in a meer. It's never bitten me but I can see how it might if huffed on. I really dig the shag cut which more often than not just burns down to a grey ash in a meer. I've never used this one as an anchor in the rotation but it is somewhat of a pleasure with coffee.

Chasingembers?.... Chasing toilet paper. ๐ No kidding. I though dates were safe.....I was horribly wrong.๐ญ Yeah, back in the early 70โs my aunt ran a daycare out of her house. She had a deal with the local mini grocer that gave her products deeply discounted at the end of their cycle. We picked up a case of spotted bananas... and proceeded to eat most of the case. Aunt Betty asked about the bananas and we fessed up... she told us, โthat wasnโt a good idea with a grinโ. We pushed out a lot of stewed fruit. She was going to make banana nut bread.... we pinched many loaves of banana butt bread.

Well, Peretti just informed me that it was an error, and they're out of stock on the Germains (surprise surprise). I knew it was a long shot...

Ha!!! My Google-Fu DID pay off!!!
From Nate at Peretti:
Please disregard my earlier email. We have located a final tin of King Charles Mixture. It's shipping to you today.
Sorry for the confusion and please enjoy. It may be the last tin we see for a while!
