The way I am reading it, protection is offered for domestically produced cigars, none for imports?

Thanks, if that is the case, I definitely think it is a good step.
Silly that it is even an issue when you think of alcohol and marijuana...last time I checked, tobacco doesn't affect motor skills or have anywhere near the bad side reaction.

It does if you smoke a Padron '64 Diplomatico on an empty stomach.

Jose Padron smoked the delicious up until about 2005 you could still find the curly tops. I just buy the londres these days and have been smoking a couple a month since the demise of the curly tops. Made in Nicaragua the office in Miami had been bombed many times over the years.

IMO that they're trying to include Newman's machine made cigars might be an issue. I can't blame them for trying but we've been working to get an exemption for truly premium hand rolled cigars and it will not help to have machine made cigars tagging along.

Newman's hand rolled cigars are made by Fuente. Fuente machine cigars are Newman's. Since the mid 80s. You can get a hand rolled US made cigar in just about every major city or tourist trap. Heck even Charlie can see em made in Arizona. But most of the sticks at the local B/M are from South America. Takes lots of cheap labor to make sticks by hand..
