I worked with a follow once who had spent two years in Japan doing construction. He said he walked into a huge mall one Christmas season, and they had a giant Santa hanging from the ceiling...on a cross. It seems they were a little confused about the christian and pagan origins and the season, and just combined it all into one big horrific ball. He said he needed therapy after that sight!
If it were supposed to be easy, they'd have sent my little sister to do it.

When I was in Japan I “ only “ drank what was sold in the high end restaurants. You never know what’s in some of those home made brews....including Sake.
Mac....what more can I say other than enjoy your stay in Mexico but “ DON’T DRINK THE WATER!!!
Hard to say. The Japanese have always been good at mimicking other people's inventions; cameras, cars, electronics, Scotch Whiskey. I would try the Gumbo given the chance.

Hah! Was it a street side vendor? I'm in Mexico right now, and am avoiding those.
My Dad taught me to eat where the locals eat. If the place is packed with locals, you will always find good food at a good price. Same is true for those taco stands. If they are swarming with locals, it's gonna be goooood.

Spent a lot of nights in Mexico at my old job, and not just the garden spots either. Saltillo, Monclova, Morelia,Chihuahua, Aguascalientes, Zacatecas, Leon etc. (A lot of those were actually very neat though very poor towns, wonderful people.) I somehow dodged the bullet all those years. I was careful about water though; never drank it, never used ice, no fruits or veggies that weren't peeled (this gets lots of people because they don't think about produce being rinsed), brushed my teeth with bottled water etc.. I ate the hell out of street tacos though. My theory is, nothing bad could survive that level of nuclear roasting for hours on end. I still haven't found good pastur in the states!
