I forgot to mention:
Ken who also went to the NY Pipe Show told me that the TAPS pipe show here in Raleigh NC was twice the size as the one he went to in NY this year. The last NY pipe show I went to in 2014 was a decent size. Guess they have not been getting a good turn out with many no smoking laws throughout parts of NYC.

The recent posts in this thread bring up a good point.
It's a shame that we're all pals here in our virtual smoking lounge and we didn't get a chance to meet face to face.
How bout next year we come up with a way to either identify fellow Patchers or have a designated meeting place?
I hate that there were at least a couple briar patchers that I missed the opportunity to get to meet.

If there is a check in/ registration table, a person could bring a briarpatch clipboard to leave at the table for incoming members to sign off and designated person(s) have their cell phone number for people to call? Preferably someone not like lazy Ted to have texting turned off.

I was happy to hear this TAPS show was so much better than the past show in NY. All the vendors here did not try selling over priced tobacco’s, picked up a good buy for a friend and a tin for myself. |

At the 2016 TAPS show they gave a “ sticky “ tab to write your name and wear on your coat or shirt, this year nothing. I’m still wondering how the heck I missed you, I was smoking a pipe right across from Mike aka mgtarheel. |

Thanks Charlie, yup...I did see Dino. Actually smoked at a table next to me. Next year I’ll make sure we All Make phone calls. Ken had my cell number and called me, we met outside. Geoff sent me a text and I have my texts off......so much is lost in a text or taken out of context....that’s the main reason I no longer text.

I had a great time at the show and it was great meeting everyone. It was funny sitting next to fellow patchers and not knowing it until I mentioned a couple times that I hadn't seen them and they were quickly pointed out. I did miss Geoff also but am sure I saw and talked to him and didn't know it.
I did have a nice run of luck winning two of the raffles one being the grand prize, a Bonfiglioli pipe and coffee mug made just for the show and the box is signed by the carver. (I'll post pics when I get home from work later.) All in all It was a great time and I will make the drive back down next year for sure.
