It's always fun to get away and to hear about other's little getaways. This is an old thread so I will maybe breathe a bit of life into it. Not much of a trip, but looking forward to getting on the Vulcan Nomad 1700 cruiser for probably the last run of the summer to ride the winding highway through the North Cascades over Stevens Pass to Leavenworth, a little event driven Bavarian themed town with lots of beer gardens and art shows in the shadow of Washington's Cascade mountains. I will be riding alone to meet up with a friend who is camping there for the week. It's a gorgeous, curvy two hour ride each way. He's a cigar guy, I'm a pipe guy and so will will light it up along the banks of the Icicle River wishing we were casting our flies to hook some rainbows; but being on a bike, that will have to defer to another day. Then we will head into town to find a streetside table at a bustling brewery and grab some cold ones and a bit of food. Leavenworth is well known and no doubt many on this forum have at some time been there. So I am ecstatic looking forward to the ride with the wind to my face, the great conversations through some puffs of smoke, some cold beers, and an outstanding friend.

I get sewer and drain service. Unfortunately, their club is not in existence anymore. I am not sure why. That is sad because Sargeant Matron and his mates are an absolutely insane bunch. They went to bothies for a weekend and enjoyed life. Their monthly magazine had one of the best and crazy humour I've read. And the SG Bothy Flake was created for their club. |

When I lived in London back thirty years ago, I spent as much free time as possible in Scotland. Love the place. If I were visiting now, I remove myself from the large cities up to Inverness and make that my base of travel. Focus on the Highlands and the Islands.

I have enjoyed the Outer Hebrides several times. This is what they say about Scots whisky there: In the Inner Hebrides they make the best Scots whisky in the world. In the Outer Hebrides they drink it. I have found this to be true.  |

If I go to Scotland it will be to hike my arse off in the Highlands. Something like 3-4 weeks of hiking. Stay in bothies, of course.

Hmm. My theory, then, is they - again - had a drink too many in the bothy and forgot to pay the dues when they came back.  |

I need to move my domain away from godaddy. Go Daddy sends out warnings to subscribers all the time 90, 60, 30 days out. And people either ignore them, or experience brain flatulence. And yes… they blame GoDaddy too. |
