Like it. By coincidence, I took a tin on a recent trip, and still working through it. I dry it and partially rub it, load and I am off and running.

It's April already? I just saw the tin the other day and should have kept it out. Oh well have to find it again.

Three Nuns Red To me this is a medium smoke for a nicotine level. It has a grassy musty smell out of the tin. I’m not a Virginia/Burley fan with the exception of a few. I liked the coins and the moisture was about perfect. I only had one re-light after the initial charging light. To me there is a sweetness to the smoke and a little spice when retrohaling. It was very smooth and fairly enjoyable. I think with a few years age on it this could be an exceptional tobacco. I smoked it in a Savinelli Miele. The bowl lasted about 50 minutes with a medium cadence. I wouldn’t put it in my top twenty at this time and wouldn’t put it in my top five of Virginia/Burly blends. I would have no issues picking up a few more tins to cellar though and see what it was like in five or so years.

Nice review Spartacus. I smoked it once some time ago but I was very distracted and I remember it not quite knocking my socks off enough. But that was then and I'll be getting on it soon to form a proper opinion. I will say that Newminster's Superior Round Slices has a similar look and blend type. I'll have to also compare the two because Superior Round Slices comes in bulk and is much, much cheaper.

I agree with above... Spartacus, that was a great review. I will look out for those when I smoke it, hopefully within the next week.

Ok here goes nothing:
I smoked my first bowl of Three Nuns this morning in a MM Legend (the second smoke in this pipe, Carter Hall being the first). I will admit I was driving when I first lit the pipe and may have not been giving the tobacco full attention. Also I was drinking coffee. Regardless, the tin note was pretty nice, raisins come to mind. The first half of the bowl was not memorable, again possibly due to driving. The bottom half was much more flavorful.
Later today, I packed up a Morgan Bones bent brandy with some more 3N and a glass of water. I sat down and enjoyed the pipe rather than doing something else. The initial light had some burnt marshmallow flavor which was noticed on each relight. This was more dark fired flavor than Virginia flavored to me. It almost had some cigar elements to it. There was little sweetness from the VAs but it came and went occasionally. Nothing overtly grabbed me with this blend but I will be doing subsequent tastings as the month goes on, especially in different pipes and revisiting the cob again.

Smoked 2 bowls of 3 Nuns (original, Red) last night. I recall having tried it a year or two ago and not caring for it. This was a year old tin and I got more pleasure out of it than originally, so a title aging on this certainly helps. It's well balanced between Virginia and Burley and the dark fired provides nice depth. It's musty, a little earthy and it has a spiciness to it though the tin doesn't offer any info there. Not a favorite, but not bad. I'll enjoy finishing it though not likely to buy more. I'll continue smoking and anything more to offer I'll put it up here.

Smoked another bowl this afternoon and this darn blend is growing on me. Less mustiness and more depth. Tastes more like an aged tobacco pressed for some time. Still taste the spice and still can't tell what it is.

Smoking some of this in a meer today. Definitely opens up some flavors I wasn’t getting before. The VAs are coming out nicely. The Kentucky seems more muted. Overall I’m really enjoying this smoking experience.

For me it's tastier when air dried/spongy and packed medium tight, puffed delicately...

After smoking a bowl and paying more attention to it I can say that its not bad. Has some good Virginia flavors and tastes like its a blend that was given time to be good. Im not going into details of this because while I do like it, I do not like it enough to cellar it, especially at its retail price. If I see an amazing deal, I might put away a few tins. I'll smoke what I have and if my opinion changes, even just a little, I'll update my thoughts.
Tonight I also smoked a bowl of Newminster's Superior Round Slices and while not exactly the same, its similar in looks and style. I find it to be a bit sweeter in a good way and many aspects of it are close in nature to Three Nuns. It is much cheaper and purchased in bulk as well.
Not trying to hijack this thread with another blend but I wanted to put it out there that there is an alternative that I think is worthwhile trying if one hasn't that is plenty flavorful and much easier on the wallet.

Managed to get my 3 nuns out of their hiding place and into my pipe.
I find it hard to describe this one. It reminded me of Germain's Plum Cake, but not as good. I got some hay flavours (I think), and perhaps a hint of marzipan, but nothing much else (note: those who know me, know I can't really detect flavours anyway - all I can taste is smoke).
That said, I found it a pleasurable smoke. It wasn't harsh, nor did it taste bad. I found it pleasant. I could smoke this one in regular rotation...not frequent rotation, but regular enough.
Not a bad blend.

I've smoked two bowl so far, in two different briars. It's not a sweet blend, and I don't detect much plum or raisin. It's a little peppery, but not much. More of a dry hay type smoke. Not unpleasant. I've have better blends. I'll finish this tin, and see how I feel about it by then.

Here Go's
The tin I had was dated Feb. 2018 and upon opening was greeted with a tin note of ketchup. The tobacco was fairly dry and didn't require drying out. I smoked this in three different pipes, a fresh cob a meer and a freshly cleaned briar. I rubbed some of the coins out and stuffed some whole with no noticeable difference in flavor of the smoke or lighting issues. On initial light I got a nice hay and light nuttiness that I can only describe as a light malted barley.Further into the smoke I detect some spice and a light tartness that stays with it until the end. I averaged one relight each smoke and had a nice gray ash with little to no tobacco left. Overall a pleasant smoke that I will keep in my rotation until the tin is finished and I picked another up for down the road to try with more age on it.

I've had a couple more bowls of this. Tried to identify the flavors others noted a bit above. Some I did detect in mild quantities. It's a fair blend but there are others I like better that fit in the same family. I'll definitely finish the tin but as noted above not likely to buy more as it is not a real standout and its retail price is quite a bit higher than other tobaccos.

I've not tried the original. Have a couple of jars that's been sitting since 2015. About time to crack one open.

So its the end of the month and after a number of bowls in a number of pipes my opinion remains the same. I'm curious to see where this blend goes with age on it though so at some point with a good sale, I'll grab more tins and put them away. Bottom line, its a good blend but for me priced too high for what I get in return. There's just too much out there that is as good if not better but at a lower cost.
