I've been able to put away a fair amount of all three Luxuries in the past year. Of the three, the Navy is my favorite, especially with some age on it. The only way to get aged tobacco from fresh, is to leave it alone. Sigh. That means I need to buy more than I smoke, I guess.

I have plenty of LNF time capsules. The LBF is represented as well. I dislike the Twist, though. I get a Play-Doh vibe from that one.

I've heard people talk about "artificially aging" tobacco by jarring it and leaving it in a vehicle through the summer. I haven't tried it.

Y’all might wanna try some Newminster 400. Cheap, and is much higher quality than the Stokkebye stuff. That said, ERIC Stokkebye has Evening Flake now, which is some excellent VA flake in the same vein as LNF, but better.

Newminster 400 is really good. Haven't had the chance to try Evening Flake, yet. I plan to correct that soon.

Haven't tried 400. I'm not aware of a Newminster equivalent of LBF, though. I mean, 403 looks like it, but it's a different blend with different ingredients. Maybe they have an LTF equivalent. I haven't looked.
Evening Flake is definintely good stuff. Harder to find in stock than the L_F blends, though.

The 403 are small coins, like some of the Mac Baren coins. To me, the flavor is heavy on the DFK. Not a favorite, waiting to see what time will do. I like LBF much more.

Right, that's the big difference. The dark center of 403 is Dark Fired Kentucky. LBF's is cavendish. They're very different blends in both flavor and nicotine level.

Keeping an eye on Evening Flake availability. Same, regarding DFK. I've cellared all my 403 to let it do just that. If you can't catch EF in stock, let me know. I managed to land a fair bit of it a while back.

I get molasses and a most excellent maltiness (like beer wort) from 400 fresh. It's different after a couple years. Better? Maybe, maybe not. The 403 is more appealing to me after a couple years. I find it tough on the tongue when fresh.

I love Davidoff LBF. I have several tins sleeping under the bed. 3 years old now.

I loved the hell out of LNF fresh, and now my 2014 LNF tastes stale and off. The Danish topping gets worse with age, whereas my aged OGS and most others are super superb with 10-12 years of age. I'll be digging into and smoking more of the Luxury Navy Flake. The Luxury Twist Flake is awesome with 5+ years on it. As are the LBF's.

The 403 Superior Slices aged extremely well. I've got about 8-9 ounces left from 2014. It's those god damned toppings in LNF and 400, and I'll say it just as plain as it is.

Take a baking sheet and lay out 4-8 ounces and then cover tightly in aluminum foil. Stove at around 200-250 degrees for 4 hours in the oven. You can also put the glass mason jar into the oven the same way with a foil covering.

I still do enjoy it aged, but something gets lost.

Well, this is technically just stoving it but many seem to think it makes fresher Virginias just taste like they have a bit more age on them. Like how Ken Byron sells the Raven's Eyes. Those are stoved LBF baked in this style and he mentions the same there "Gives it a deeper flavor but don't think it's going to taste the same way as jar aged" or something to that effect. Stoved Capstan and other flakes I've tried taste wonderful and they do seem to taste like they get a deeper, aged flavor. YMMV, and it's easily possible to overcook them and need to rehydrate, etc.

The 403 is weird. I love the stuff. The coins are kind of inconsistent, in that one smoke might have more VA, but the next has more DFK. I hated the stuff at first. But, I pulled it out after about a year and a half, and was like “yassssss”.
I haven’t had the 400 aged, but love it fresh. Like graham crackers. I can see how some of that would flash off over time, and end up with a darker, less sweet, more punchy VA. I’m cool with that though. Mac B makes it, and I swear up and down that whatever they case it with is the same stuff they use on Brunello. In fact, when I got my first order, and opened the bag and smelled it, I thought they’d sent me bulk Brunello. It doesn’t have the Burley and whatever else is in Brunello, but I’d say if Brunello was just VA, 400 would be it.
