I decided to try making a roll-up tobacco pouch. I already had a synthetic leather one that was OK but rather stiff...just not as soft as real leather can be.....so, I got an old leather coat that my wife was getting rid of and re-purposed it. The leather is extremely soft and pliable so the pouch falls open just as I was hoping for. Also, I made it much longer so it folds over several times, just like the old ones I've seen in old movies. I put in a silk liner (actually was the coat lining). It doesn't have any rubber lining so it probably would not retain moisture quite as well but I carry just a couple days worth of tobacco and I usually dry out my tobacco before smoking anyway. I had never done any leather stitching but I bought a stitching awl and watched some youtube tutorials. Really pretty easy. I now have the pouch I was looking for but couldn't find. As an afterthought, I used more leather to fashion a matching pouch for my Zippo Pipe Lighter.

Well done. Those items have a very classy look about them.

Picture removed.
Not quite sure how it happened, but such is technology.
