Thanks for the welcome! I’m gonna tell a little bit more about myself in the intro section of this forum. I would also like to chat about the blends that pipe smokers are liking the most at this moment and why. I’m in a constant search for that blend that balances a great tasty smoke with a pleasant room note. I’m also trying to learn the proper way to mix and create my own blends to find that “perfect” balance.

A different take on reviewing tobacco for sure, and a very good way of going about it. Unless you are a hermit and really don’t care, it makes sense to have an understanding of what is offensive, and what is alluring when smoking a pipe around non smokers. Some blends smoke great, but reek to high heaven, best to smoke them at the pipe club meeting, or in your solitary smokes.
You pull off a flat cap well, and your wife is a pretty assistant, and in my first viewing, has good good scents on determining what passes muster.

Welcome..It seems that I get compliments on the room note of Captain Black (White) though it's not my favorite smoke. Yes, the Captain Black and lane limited line of tobacco have all pleasant Room Notes. For me they are very mild smokes and don’t offer much in terms of taste or body. I picked Lane Limited 1-Q (same ingredients in Captain Black Royal) to be the one reviewed by Lady Briar. I was surprised by her reaction to it. The video is already uploaded in YouTube under Flat Cap Piper. If everyone is interested, I can provide links to the blends we have reviewed so far on this thread. If not, they should be easy to find in YouTube. We will be reviewing Autumn Evening by Cornell and Diehl next as voted by the YTPC (YouTube Pipe Community)

I will check it out then. Is this one with a potential pleasant room Note or are we trying to troll Lady Briar with a bomb? Either way it should make for a fun video 😂... I don’t let her know anything about them until we start recording. It makes it more fun for me 😁👍🏽

If you burn car tires in one room, smoke Royal Yacht in another... the olfactory differences are imperceptible.

Normally I don't notice room note but one that's a bit of a surprise is Sutliff Sunrise which is supposed to be a match for Dunhill Early Morning Pipe. It's got a light topping (not sure what exactly; whiskey maybe?) that gives off a very pleasant aroma when lighting.

A blend with a very pleasant room note is conosuirs blend by Peterson. I bought an ounce to try and has a bowl at my local pipe shop.Even with 5 people smoking cigars they commented on note within seconds after the char light. Peterson has many blends that produce nice room notes. Blue Note,Honeydew vanilla are pleasant to the nose. PS twisted flakes has a soft mellow room note. Conosuirs blend is one that I would recommend to anyone looking for an aero that has good flavor and strong pleasant room note. I think even smoking outside it’s going to be noticeable.

Connoisseur's choice is a good blend. Haven't had it in a while. I must have a bowl when I return home.

Get breath smoking down to nearly imperceptible wisps and only those with the most sensitive noses will know you're smoking. Drives my wife crazy because she's still producing clouds with her pipes and she doesn't know if I'm smoking or just holding a pipe in my mouth.😁

My wife is normally very supportive of my pipes and trying new tobaccos, and she loves most of the room notes. But she came in the other day as I was finishing up a bowl of Sir Walter Raleigh Regular. She stopped, sniffed and asked "Did you get some new tobacco"? I told her I did, asked if she liked it. She said it smells more like cigarettes than any other tobacco I use, and that maybe it could be a "when Shweetie is not at home" blend? I had bought a whole tub of the stuff! But, if the room note is not enjoyable for my Baby, I'll just trade it off. Too much good stuff out there to get hung up on one blend.
