I read posts where it as said leaving quietly was a respectable thing to do. Many opt for flaming. Neither fits what I am about to say. I've been called a short timer here, and perhaps two years is. However, I am not leaving for ill feelings. This is the best pipe forum on the Internet, bar none. I have made some really close friends here, whom I will keep in contact with. Others know how to get hold of me outside of this forum. The rest can ask the others if they would like. Many have been an inspiration to me in everything from pipe smoking to Comic Art. Then there is Legend Lover and scrooge and Cramptholomew who have lifted me up so spiritually in many ways. I hope everyone in this club understands its value and treats it accordingly. For me, I just have to go... wishing you all the richest of blessings. Hope someone will lock this thread and leave the words for what they are. I will deactivate in a few minutes |

Sad to see you go, David..you've with us through thick and thin, through peace and tranquility, through the rough patches too. Don't know why you are leaving, but we all wish you the best in whatever you are about to do. We hope you come back at some time in the future...we all have moments like this...where we are ready to throw the towel in...but somehow we remain and hopefully lift someone else up as we have been.

He is truly a gentleman David was definitely one of a kind👌👍👍. His wit and humor in everything he wrote was always brilliant. The way he changed his avatar & username showed just how his personality carried him through every day. I will truly miss him on here, but I plan on keeping in touch once he settles down a while. I’m totally bummed out that he left the Patch, but I understand why. David, #7.....your a true gentleman, May God watch over you and your wife and bring some joy back into both of your lives. You’ll be missed by many here on the Patch. |

You have embraced this group and culture with nothing short of enthusiasm regardless of your personal situation. You have taken the time to introduce at least one neophyte piper to so many of the things that make this the siblinghood (easier to type than brother/sister hood) of the leaf. The gifts you have shared, great stories, your love for pipes and tobacco and on a personal level the pipes that you chose to part with so that I could learn more about pipes and styles will always be among my treasures. I’ve been in touch with David via email. He has much on his plate right now. He has no intention of starting his own pipe forum, where this info came from was not from David.
My thoughts and Prayers are still with David and Xuan.
