Seems like there is some good news coming out of Baton Rouge, LA for pipe smokers. The best B&M there was Bayou Tobacco and it closed down in June 2018. It was owned and run by a husband and wife but he died in 2016 and she decided to close it down and move to Mississippi.
Yesterday, a notification popped up on Facebook telling me that they had changed their phone number. I sent them a message and asked if they were re-opening. The reply was:
"Not yet, should have new store open in the next few weeks."
I used to make a trip up there at least once a month when our oldest son was living in Baton Rouge. I always liked it because they carried a different variety of tinned tobacco than the B&M I go to in the New Orleans area. More importantly, there always seemed to be three or four pipe smokers sitting in there smoking when I stopped in. Glad to see the shop re-opening.

That is wonderful news! I'm pretty far from that location...but any news of B&M stores re-opening is good news.

That’s great news Joe, you’ll have some fine tobacco’s fairly local and a place to hang out where there are other pipe smokers👌👍👍

It's good news for the pipe smokers up there though as the Baton Rouge pipe club used to meet monthly at Bayou tobacco.

Would be great if they can develop an internet presence - great for us and an opportunity for greater Bayou Tobacco prosperity...

Either Sarah has changed her mind about staying in Mississippi and returning to reopen the shop or new ownership will be taking place. Either way, I'll be looking forward to it's reopenning. I've missed it.

Awesome news!! I find myself in BR pretty often for work, and I used to stop by often. It'll nice to be able to pop have a smoke before heading back to the office. Any word on whether it is at the old location?

That's great news, Joe. I wonder what made them change their mind, unless they passed it on.
