The CEO of the company I work for is an Army Veteran, the company I work for is an active participant in the American Trucking Association, and we have program to help soldiers returning from the field to transition into civilian society. We operate at Ft Riley Kansas in that regard and also Ft. Smith Arkansas, along with our service centers nationwide. The tractor is sitting idle while we wait for the trailer to get the same wrap and wheel treatment. Mack donated the tractor, it is one sweet riding tractor, it rides like what I think a spaceship would. Chill/heated leather seats.
Sure beats the hell out of the 1972 International Harvester Cabover Transtar I started hauling meat in.

That’s a beauty Charlie, once you hook up to the new camouflage trailer that will be a gorgeous rig. Nice that Mack donated that tractor, nice to see some companies that support “ our troops “!!! Thanks for posting the pictures, you look great in the drivers seat👌👍👍. Looking forward to seeing pictures of the entire rig once set up.
I’m still partial to the picture you posted of your 1972 International Harvester Cabover Transtar . When I was in my early teens I built a model of that tractor, extremely detailed with the proper parts to make the cabover work. I saved the picture of your International Harvester in a folder. Might not have ridden like this new Mack, but it was still a looker in the condition you kept it.
Have a great weekend and be well.
PS You’ll miss the double clutching on the new rig.....NOT!!! Pain in the arse when I was the driver of a pumper those years I was a Volunteer Fireman. The new trucks are a dream to drive.

Wow. That's a sweet ride. I love the camouflage look. You wouldn't notice it when driving through the jungle.

I bet it's nice but I can't seem to quite make it out. Gives them an excuse for cutting you off. "Officer, I swear I just didn't see it!"

I won't be getting an time behind the wheel of that truck for an runs, as I am not part of "America's Road Team"...my buddy Steve spends a fair amount of time throughout the year taking part in different events ranging from conventions, College Campus events for people going into the transportation industry, and to DC for DOT related issues.
Our company has been a solid Mack customer for years....always a few freightliners, internationals, etc...in the fleet. They bought 300 Kenworth's this last year, and most of the guys hate them...they rattle after just a few miles, and the ride is not as good. The integrated collision avoidance system is the most annoying though, every time a car cuts in front of you in city driving (which is non stop) ear mounted speakers announce a warning, sometimes applies the brakes, and the display says "near collision recorded". I drove one one day, and that was enough...no more for me.
It was announced that they will buy Macks next year, I cannot help but think that the CEO's involvement with the Army and Mack's donation wasn't part of a wooing going on.

That Mack is a nice looking truck. My late Father-in-law was a trucker. He bought a new IH cab over of about the same vintage - early 70's. He put well over a million miles on that truck. He then went with an IH Midnight Eagle in the early 90's; that was a sweet truck.

Charlie, why did they paint it that camouflage look? I thought something that would attract attention would be better. I used to run the federal FARS unit (Fatal Accident Research/Reporting System) for the FL.Highway Patrol...we got all the accident reports that involved fatalities complete with pictures. The "over" pics were the worst...decapitations, sometimes only a large smear of blood and guts...wasn't for the weak hearted. The overall complaint was..."I didn't see him"...how the hell do you miss something that large and long?

I guess the size is what matters...and you are probably right...it certainly will get noticed in traffic. By itself it probably would work as camouflage.

What is far worse is UPS trailers trucking through the California central valley in fog...it is probably better now that everyone is running LED lights, but them gray wagons back in the 80's were one hell of a camouflage. They probably based this truck in the southwest....that camouflage does nothing against a Sonoran desert background.

Sheesh!! That's friggin' sweet!!
That Cat engine really set it off, when he hit's the Jake Brake on that thing, he makes a statement! ...the best engine ever made....to be no more. After diesel emissions mandate came into play, CAT decided the were not going to play that stupid game...they were the smart ones. So was Roger Penske, he owned Detroit diesel, retooling the factory made it a non starter...as usual with Mr. Penske, he was smart to do so. The emissions systems have been a nightmare, and have skyrocketed the cost of keeping rigs on the road. My cousin is retiring from working back in Kansas, and he bought a pre-emissions tractor and is doing a frame up restoration project to build the truck he wants to be able to drive supporting the rodeo circuit in the midwest. I would do the same if I was in the market for m own tractor.

The do have a Volvo, I have never like their looks that much, but they handle really nice on the road. Volvo has owned Mack for many years now the Mack part is just the bulldog on the hood. They even use Volvo part numbers engines and automatic transmissions. It can be our secret.

If that is a secret, it is the worst kept secret....every dealership is Volvo/Mack. FWIW...I had the auto transmission for awhile...I handed that newer truck off to a junior guy.

I have seen airplane cockpits that were simpler than that. Need one of those hood ornaments for my riding lawnmower. And Ford Edge.
