On September 30 of this year I purchased an estate pipe from the online shop Blue Room Briars. When I received the pipe and started to smoke the first bowl in it I found that it was ghosted by the mother of all tobacco ghosts, the dreaded demon that is Lakeland. To each his own but personally I detest Lakeland blends. After several attempts to exorcise the offending spirit I decided that it was a hopeless task. The pipe became a "looking at" pipe rather than a smoking pipe.
Sometime later, I honestly can not remember when exactly, Blue Room Briars came up in a thread here and I made mention of my experience with them and noted the fact that I was not pleased with the pipe. I did not think it was intentionally done and so marked it down as a life lesson and moved on.
On the evening of December 1, I received a phone call from a number I did not recognize. Honestly I considered not answering but decided that I was in the mood to annoy a telemarketer and answered. Much to my surprise it was Scott Townsend from Blue Room Briars. My first thought was that this was going to be way more interesting than a telemarketer.
I felt like a bit of an arse when Scott said he had become aware of the situation and wanted to make it right. A much humbled me told him I did not think it necessary but Scott disagreed and very politely asked me to send the pipe back so they could do everything possible to try to eliminate the ghost free of charge. I agreed and a couple or so weeks later, busy with the holidays and all, I sent it back. I heard from Scott last night and the pipe was at the shop. They were going to try and have it back to me within a week. I assured them a rush was not necessary and I hope they won't let the pipe interfere with other things.
Since I take pride in the fact that I try to be a true Southern gentleman (not always successful but I try), I have posted this here to say that the individuals at Blue Room Briars (BlueRoomBriars.com) are fine people and truly interested in the satisfaction of their customers. If the story of my ghosted pipe that was posted here sometime ago kept you from shopping with them, then I wronged both you and the gentleman at Blue Room Briars. Therefore to everyone concerned I wish to offer my apologies.
