Not to get sappy here, but I want to thank Bamboo and the others for sharing their stories here, as well as give thanks for those of you who expressed your gratitude.
I also want to take a moment and give a heart felt thanks to my fellow vets and brothers in arms. We all have received many "thanks for your service" from many folks over the years that didn't serve, and it is no doubt appreciated. But, few people can really understand what we've all been through.
For me, this is a very solemn day. Not unlike many of you out there, I have had the honor of serving with real hero's that paid the ultimate price. Not a day goes by that I don't think about the brothers I've lost and the life that I and my family enjoy while their families must go on without them.
Take care & God Bless
Dino

A day of remembrance for the fallen those who lived get another day. May the fallen on both sides find peaceful rest. The men who start these wars rarely fight them and they can rot in hell.

I agree...it is a shame that our young people have to face the Hitler's, Mao, Castro, Pol Pot, Osama Bin Laden, etcc..types, gallery of turds.

Wow... my “uncle Bud” Casimero Trujillo had a similar experience at Omaha Beach... after being left for dead, an alert corpsman saw that the dead man was still living evacuated to a hospital, he later ended up at the Battle Of The Bulge. ...my uncle George was in the Battle of the Bulge... never talked about it...

Most who have been to war never discuss it, is far to painful.

My uncle Bud said that he had more respect for the German troops he faced at the battle of the bulge...his perception was that they were more professional, the Japanese were savages that deserved the nukes...had he been Jewish, he might have thought differently I reckon....he had a narrow view based on what he faced.

Thank you and God bless!
As a veteran who never saw combat I am sometimes embarrassed to be categorized with you fine men and women who did. I am so appreciative when someone thanks me for my service but quietly I just pass it on to those who deserve it most.
I also find it hard to hold my tongue when I encounter the idiots who are incapable of understanding what freedom requires, what our military and our veterans have done for us, and simply choose to see the military as a tax burden. These people are typically cowards of the highest magnitude.

Jeff don’t ever be ashamed of no combat, you served, for every man in the field, it takes 7 to support him. Combat ain’t all like the movies make it out to be.

I am certainly not ashamed but I have such deep respect for those who literally put their life on the line day in and day out that I believe there is another complete level of honor and respect for them.
