Again, I failed. I saw someone this morning that I really didn't need to see and caved. After this pack, I'll start over. Shouldnt be long, I've smoked 6 in the last hour trying to calm my nerves. Grabbing a pack of cigarettes was a much better option than what went through my head to begin with. Keep calm, start over tomorrow. You got this buddy

I have never been addicted to cigarettes so I can not speak from that experience. However, they killed my father, and I have attended the final moments of two family members who admittedly died from them. If I had ever been a cig smoker I would have chunked them back then. And it can be done. My brother went from over a carton a day to zero overnight. It still killed him 8 heart surgeries and 45 years later.

After chain smoking all morning, I'm throwing the rest in the trash. Day 1 starts tomorrow, again.

After chain smoking all morning, I'm throwing the rest in the trash. Day 1 starts tomorrow, again. It wouldn't matter how long I had gone without a cigarette, all it took was one cig to have me back at square one. It was so frustrating. Everyone is different so we have to find what works for us. What works for one may not work for another. So no need to beat yourself up, set-backs are just part of the process. One statistic that gives hope; each attempt at giving up cigarettes brings one closer to eventually succeeding. Replacing cigs for a pipe worked for me because I'd been heavily addicted for 35 years & because a pipe occupied my hands. (I used a pipe like a baby with a pacifier, often sucking on an unlit pipe. When I drove a truck I used an unlit stub of a cigar to suck on) Good luck finding what works for you.

I have never been able to quit despite many tries but have been able to cut back. I put the cigs in one place and the lighter in another, a piece of wooden dowel the size of cigarette for the hands to mess with and make some of those cinnamon tooth picks.

If I smoke a carton in a week every other month, it's still better than smoking a pack and a half a day every day.

There are worse things in the world that you could be doing.

Oh I know that all too well. I wasnt really beating myself up over it, was more or less just an update on my recent quitting attempt.

For stress release, can you try running or walking? Playing a sport? Going somewhere new? Eating celery?
I quit cold turkey about 35 years ago. For several years I would be tempted, but managed to not get back into it even after a stick or two at a party following several drinks.

Glad I never started smoking cigarettes. Both of my parents smoked like locomotives, and the smoke never bothered me. I tried inhaling a cigarette once and felt like my lungs collapsed.

Try Daughters and Ryan blends which are also used for RYO. I think you will find them satisfying enough to make weening off of cigarettes easier. Cockstrong has a rich satisfying flavor.

Just wanted to give an update. I have been able to stay off the cigarettes for a week. I used the patch for the first three days and no tobacco then stopped the patch and just have been puffing the pipe. I feel better and have saved some money already.

I'd like to say, 'you're welcome', but I think you're referring to a different patch.
