Finished a bowl of Lane BCA in my small meerschaum while working on a saddle on the porch, still had saddle and daylight left so I packed another bowl in a black, rusticated Devil Anse. That Devil Anse is a real good clincher for working, as long as you don't get too involved in a perplexing part of your endeavors and start puffing too hard in agitation. Then it gets a little hot.

It took me 3 trips outside to smoke through my bowl of Salty Dogs. That stuff burns S-L-O-W-! I cut 2 thin slices off of the plug and rubbed them out. I let it dry another 20-30 minutes. It wasn't even enough to completely fill a medium sized bowl, which was actually the perfect amount.
It's going to take a few more bowls to really "get" this one, probably a few different preparations too. It doesnt seem like a complex blend, and I dont think it's supposed to be.
Will report back on this after a few more bowls and a couple different pipes.

Good morning Patchers. Two years ago today, just before 8am I became a member of the Patch. It’s been a great time and here’s to the next many years....
My first pipe of the day was Samuel Gawith Full Virginia Flake (vintage February, 2019) in a Basil Meadows long shank brandy with a brass band and cumberland stem.

Butternut burley in a Dr Grabow Grand Duke acorn with the blue spade...I found this pipe in the top drawer of my Craftsman tool box; it's brand new ,and came in a huge collection of estates I purchased some years back... I don't know when or how it ended up in the tool box.
