Beautiful work Dave! Love the one LHS that Scrooge gave me...I love to look at it as well as smoke it...they really made some beauties back then.

@pepesdad
LHS gets a bad wrap because most of what is seen on eBay are their “budget pipes.” LHS made pipes for every budget. From the $1 Filter King to the $25 Special Make. That was the equivalent of about $400 today. The Purex was about 3rd from the bottom in the grading system. Not the best grain, but no fills and well made. The push stem Sterncrest models are my favorite smokers.
Post a pic of your LHS if you don’t mind. I’d like to see it.

I have one that I refurbed a while back, it's a beautiful bulldog. Whoever had it before me over reamed the hell out of it and it smokes like CRAP. I havent put any tobacco in it in at least 6 months.
Walt's is beautiful in person as well.

As usual Dave, an excellent job restoring that pipe. Thanks for the background info.

Day/Night difference on a fine restoration. All LHS estates I've seen (I have 3 Purex) are beat to smithereens, likely as our forbearers knew what good smokers they are.

Very nice Dave. The band and the dots really stand out on it.

Beautiful. Nice work, Dave.
Bold move on their behalf with that logo and a threaded tenon. Must be really well made. Really looks great.
You should make a restoration video or two. I'd certainly watch them.

Dave G: A beautiful gift from brother Scrooge...I enjoy looking at it as much as smoking it.

That’s a beaut. A shape 99 or 98 I believe. Thanks for posting.

Funny, I just finished smoking it...and noticed that it was a 99...I see that the Purex used the same stinger as the Sterncrest. A pisser to get the smallest pipe cleaner through that tiny hole...had to open the hole with a tiny drill bit...not even noticeable.
