I reckon you'd have to take EVERYONE that smokes a pipe and ask them how many bowls a day do they smoke to really find out what REGULAR truly is. There's guys out there that smoke a pipe ALL day, smoke, empty, refill, smoke, and repeat. I myself have no more then 3-4 bowls a day. Then you'd have to do that with cigarette smokers and cigar smokers to find the Regular. Basically they have made there own mind up as to what is REGULAR so as to screw ya, period.

Knowing that a questionnaire about someone's habits is a questionnaire seeking to deny benefits where ever they can...I'm sorry he has passed and frankly it is none of their business. If he didn't die from lung cancer attributed to heavy smoking then as far as I am concerned...see above. None of their business. True, but that's a side issue,in a sense. I'm just glad that my 4-5 pipes a month wouldn't put me into the category of 'regular'. 4-5 pipes a month? And you don't taste anything? Paddy, I gotta ask, why do you even smoke sir? I would feel bad even selling you a pipe, it take you several years to break it in and I don't see how you could possibly enjoy it.

I don't trust questionares, most statistics and doctors. Most doctors I have seen tend to consider you a smoker if you have smoked once in your life, so indoctrinated they are. My grandfather's bladder cancer was written off as smoking related, completely ignoring the fact that just about everyone in his graduating class got cancer. No. Couldn't possibly have been all that radiation from detonating nukes in the desert outside his hometown. Call me cynical or delusional or whatever, but I consider my pipe a health benefit, not a health risk.

Good point. A good pipe takes 2 dozen bowls to start breaking in. I tend to buy estate pipes because otherwise they might never get broken in.

Good point. I enjoy the pleasure of pipe smoking and the smell of the smoke. I'm on a 2 day conference at the minute, and last night I had two bowls for the first time since September. It was lovely. I'll probably not have another pipe until closer to Easter. But I'm OK with that. I enjoy them while I smoke them.

Nobody said you have to smoke every day to enjoy a pipe, cigar, cigarette or did Moses carve that in stone on the backside of the ten commandments.

I smoke about 6 a day - though 4 of them are tiny maybe quarter bowls at work. One full relaxing smoke on the way to work - one at night before bed.

The thing that the culture ignores, deliberately I believe, is that we regular pipe smokers experience this overwhelming bliss regularly. Five or six or more times every damn day we experience the smoke, the pipe, time with our pipe buddies or time blessedly alone, the connection with great thinkers and writers of all time, and in many cases the connection with our own personal ancestors. All that on a regular basis. Things these health experts only experience once in a while on the golf course.

Legend Lover, I think you started right with the MM Legend being the perfect pipe for you. I thin you're right. Minimal breaking in and smoking pleasure from the start.
