I recommend new pipers stay away from Ebay until they know pipes. It's hard to find a good pipe at a good price there. It's almost impossible to do that if you aren't experienced in pipe basics. If buying new: MM cobs, Morgan Bones, and Rossi Vittoria pipes are all good choices for under $50. If buying estate pipes: pipe forums and smokingpipes.com are less risky than Ebay and social Media. My first two ebay estates were rubbish. The exception are pipe traders who sell new and lightly smoked, professionally cleaned estates. I found two German ebay sellers who I've bought a lot of good pipes from on ebay auctions. [Postage was only $8usd]

Man! Thank you. I'll be grabbing a few Morgans. Not sure how I've never heard of these. oh wow. This has been a good thread for you. My Morgan bones is a great pipe. In my limited experience, Morgan pipes are one of the best values out there; a quality pipe at a great price. I have two and they look and smoke great. I definitely will be a repeat customer.

Nothing wrong with a single pipe, that's how I started with a cheap Lorenzo. Regardless of what you like, I wouldn't recommend you buy a pipe just because it's affordable if what you've got right now works for you. If it's both affordable and strikes your fancy, all the better. Cobs are a good bet if you're looking for a rotation that won't break the bank. I've never liked them so I had two Lorenzos: dedicated to English/Not-english However, I did gift plenty of cobs to friends who seemed interested in lighting up a pipe on occasion, but not enough to buy one. They still serve them well and are great pipes. I think it's worth it to just develop your tastes and then go for something that really speaks to you. For someone, a couple of pipes is enough. Some of us like to have more of them. Until you feel the need to expand or know what your preference is, keep it simple and don't feel pressured to buy a lot. You can always treat yourself later when you do know. My two cents.

Im new to the hobby, been smoking a pipe for a few months. Ordered a cheeeeaaaaap wood pipe off amazon. ( Joyoldelf?? ) and i have one MM cob i got from my b & m that tastes funny. I smoke about 3 times a day, how long can this poor pipe go on without me adding to my rotation? I also cant afford a good pipe at the moment and dont want to make any wrong decisions with the money i do have. Also, i smoke all sorts of types. Aromatics, latakias, etc.. All im the same pipe for now. Help Kerley0319 - check your private messages.

I've only bought a couple of pipes off ebay. Not a good experience. If you want an inexpensive briar that smokes well, try a Grabow. If you have a little extra cash, nothing wrong with Pete or Savinelli. A lot of people seem to be anti-Peterson, but I've never had any serious problems.

A nice big chunky Nording almost no chance of burnout and very forgiving to a new pipe smoker. Buy good tobacco in a tin and stay away from pouches until later. Wheres a good place to buy pipes? Is ebay or amazon okay? I was looking at nordings on P & C, pretty pricey. P&C and smoking pipes are probably the best for someone just beginning. Their estates are described very well and the new pipes are never crap. I recommend the Ropp Vintage Briars for the price. I just ordered another one because of my good experience. Be sure to check the bowl size because some of them are tiny. Still great smokers, though and made in the same village that created the first briar pipe.

I made several mistakes that made me educate myself. Afterwards, I got a lot of fantastic deals. My first Radice Clear Poker for $70, for instance. Most of my Radices came from eBay. My Becker Morta for $250 was another. On Smoking Pipes it would have been over 400.

If I intended to smoke the pipe, I only ever bought from professionals on eBay. It's easy to tell one by the quality of the posting and the information they provide + a little research. I know one in Germany and another in Greece: I never really bought from anyone else if the point was to have the pipe in my regular rotation. I got my Dunhills this way along with some other British classics. Then again, I knew exactly what I wanted and got to them through that. I personally don't like the work involved in refurbishing the pipe into a condition I find enjoyable... most of what I see is far from that. And the pipes I do enjoy refurbishing, I don't necessarily want to smoke from... Either way, it was day and night when I bought an estate from a pro compared to a antique collector and what not... like the saying goes, your mileage may vary.

I've got two Ropp pipes and they're good smokers. The bowls are a touch on the small side but I found that it's good to have a selection of different bowl sizes and shapes. Recently I bought a 1/2 bent Dr Plumb Dinky. It's a little pipe with a small bowl. It's perfect for a quick smoke or for sampling a blend. And it's the perfect pocket pipe.

"No matter where you go....There you are." Buckaroo Banzai
PS Certainly not the first to express this idea, Dr. Banzai made the saying a part of pop culture as he fought Big Booty in that grand epic so aptly named after himself. No the film was not called Big Booty, but Buckaroo Banzai, namely "The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Demension".

Dr. Banzai and gang, certainly fought more than just BigBoote' .. I simply could not resist that mispronunciation or so says John BigBoote' 😁.

I like Bollito,Neat pipes,al pascia, and a few other Italian online shops. You can get several high grade Italians for what you’ll pay for one in US. Some brands no matter where the prices stay constant, but Italian pipes from Italy are bargains and great smokers.
