Thanks guys. I might do a light water based stain before I wax it. The next one will be better. Took me about 45 minutes.

In a similar vein, I bought some scrimshaw supplies today and am going to try my hand on a powderhorn.

I think you've done similar before? I remember saying those faces reminded me somewhat of the monolithic statues on Easter Island.

Don just for kicks go to Hobby Loby and buy little red stones and insert into eyes, would be unique, love the Easter Island look.

Nice carving...surprised you did not do: I like Brad's idea about the eyes... As for the powder-horn I cut one on a band saw in shop class, you never forget he smell as it cuts through the horn...very memorable.

I think I have smelled something similar while holding/Wrastlin a pig while he had his tusks trimmed. They did this with a garrote type hand saw. I just held on and had to bear it wafting in my face just inches away. Memorable is a good way to say it.

Yeah as a dumb kid, my nostrils and mouth were open, acting as the dust collection system... I was one funky monkey.

As a boy we dehorned cattle, an all day affair, I was the grease monkey, a big jar of cup grease, and a brush Dober ,horn was cut with bolt cutters and a thin pisser of blood pissed out all over you, I dabbed the cut with grease so flies and other insects wouldn’t infect cut, by the end of the day I was covered in blood, smells weren’t too good either.
