The wife saw it in a thrift store, and to her it looked like a pipe rack to her, but it is not...the finish is flawless, she paid $3 for it. At first glance I thought that it was for pool cue sticks, because the upper shelf has wider holes aligned with smaller holes on the lower one, but that would make it top heavy and it would inevitably be chipped up... you would need a 12 foot ceiling to clear the hole.

Possibly an umbrella rack and/or walking cane rack?

Possibly an umbrella rack and/or walking cane rack? Umbrella rack, something like this this makes more sense... If it was used commercially for a cane rack it would be beat up, and the wider holes on the top shelf would be unnecessary.

I think it's for walking sticks That makes sense over canes or umbrellas...had not considered that...I have two walking sticks, one is really skinny, but it will not pass through the holes, so I am guessing that is a no-go.

It's a big toe viewer. You got there just before me! Second to that, I was thinking walking sticks too.

It looks like it is in your home now. You could always shoot at it that's always fun.

I believe it is a plunger holder. Your wife knows you well.

Umbrellas, which should be tightly rolled when not in use, or canes.

Canes, yes, but there should be a catch basin for brollys.
Perhaps it's a sno-cone holder!

The three footed base is awfully small for potentially 10 or 11 walking sticks. I would think it would topple?

It looks like it would be perfect for displaying the wife's ceramic, amber and stone egg collection.

Why would someone have that many walking sticks or canes? Only a store might, and that doesn't look like a store display. My bet is that it once had a VERY specific residential display purpose. Maybe something tapered sat in each hole, who knows. I've been no help...LOL.

Canes, yes, but there should be a catch basin for brollys. Perhaps it's a sno-cone holder! I have seen specialty candy made in waffle ice-cream cones that come in 2 sizes that could be displayed in this rack, but it does not look commercial. I agree, shoot it.

Any type of cane, umbrella, cue, etc stand would need a bottom for support, wouldn't it? The funnel or cone shape sound possible. Flower pots maybe? A retail stand for fake ice cream and candy?

Do the racks rotate independently? No... the sections screw together and it all snugs up.

I am thinking it would be lightweight load bearing wise, with that 3 claw base. Seems a bit upmarket to be intended for food/dessert use.

I think Mrs Trailboss brought it home, so Charlie and his Patch friends would talk about something besides tobacco! You know she is quietly sitting across the room laughing to herself watching the confused look on his face.
