Ouch. This is truly unfortunate.
Oxygen doesn’t just burn, it is the critical component in fire.
It doesn’t explode it accelerates oxidation (or fire).
She didn’t explode she burned to death rapidly.
One of my top 10 worst ways to die.

One of my top 10 worst ways to die. I'm curious as to what the other 9 ways are. Put it in a new thread.

Reminder to self, never light a fart and don't smoke in an oxygen tent.

I told Kim about this and of course she went into a rant about it. She works in the gas and welding supply industry. She then proceeds to give me grief about smoking in my work van with all the stuff I have in it.

We had a gas plant, (welding and hospital oxygen), blow up about 5 miles from our old house. It was quite impressive. Made the national news. Bottles flew over half a mile. I quit driving by that road.

The new replacements for R-12, 22,502 will mess you up if you breathe the fumes if any is left while brazing on a system. Some of the direct drop ins have butane in them and can be a little dicey to work with. The newest one they are rolling out R-290 is very refined propane. The first system I worked on with it was nerve racking because you can't leave access fittings on them and have to braze the access tubes shut while it is running.
One of the biggest fears I have for Kim is someone doing something stupid and her getting blown up because of it. It doesn't bother her much but after working in that industry 35 years I guess you get comfortable being around it.

I used to know a fellow at a local university who swore by (laboratory-grade) propane as a replacement for classic Freon refrigerants in cars, arguing it offered much better A/C performance than the officially blessed choices. He supposed that was that there was so little refrigerant in the system, even if it went very badly, the consequences would be small. (Think about it, your car is already filled with tens of gallons of explosive hydrocarbons...)
