I sure enjoyed many of his movies. He has a wonderful sense of what humor is and how to earn a laugh. Timing is perfect. "Who would have thought you would love a play with a name like "Springtime for Hitler" ".

Blazing Saddles was really a break out movie for Hedley Lamar, Harvey Korman...he was a comic genius on Carol Burnett, but the FCC regs...were the FCC regs, and he did a great job of making risquee comments without hitting the trip wire....The Movie BS must have had a feeling of being unshackled. I could not agree more with Mel when he has asked about if the movie BS could be made today...as he said, it could not...while he regretted using the "N" word in retrospect, the political correctness is pretty stupid.

A master at poking fun at things that are disapproved of by the general public. Life is supposed to be fun why so serious.

Especially when the word is used in Rap music and comedy specials... it has really gotten stupid. It takes me back to the early and mid 1970s. I went to an integrated school. Lots of Black kids. Some were my friends. I cannot overstate how much I hate that word and how it hurt the people I knew back then.

I would bet you'd be visiting the emergancy room!

If you aren't, you should Google 'Hedy Lamarr.'

May want to Google Blazing Saddles. "It's Hedley" is a gag throughout the movie.

I can't even imagine the comedy routines, and jokes ...especially the jokes that could never be shown on TV, or be made available for "public consumption". Can you image the the laughs at private gatherings, parties, dinners...that Brooks, Sid Caesar, and all the other comedy geniuses attended?
Many years ago, my uncle used to be the doorman/concierge for the apartment building in which Brooks and Bancroft lived. It was in mid-Manhattan, on the west side. Brooks would lovingly confide and complain about Ann, and Ann would moan about Mel. Ann was an Italian girl from The Bronx...and she'd use some real salty language and a few vulgar Italian expressions when it came to Mel. She'd make my uncle die laughing! Mel, and Ann, were very friendly, and my uncle said they were the nicest, considerate, and thoughtful couple.
God bless you Mel. Making people laugh is the best gift of all.

I had a feeling they were both genuine people. What were those vulgar Italian expressions? I need to know.
