I used to read nothing but SF and fantasy but I started with a novel called The Snake by John Godey, then Cathedral by Nelson DeMille. Then everything I could find by DeMille. Then the Jack Ryan and John Clark books by Tom Clancy. Been reading everything from history, biography, historical fiction, and more but with plenty of SF and fantasy mixed in. Just finished Lincoln Child's Deep Storm, Larry Correa's Number One in Customer Service, and Zane Grey's Rainbow Canyon. I got into Westerns last year. And pretty anything else that I got my hands on. If you like Nelson DeMille, try “The Charm School.” It’s a classic Ron.

The Iliad and the Odyssey. Homer Over the last fifty years archaeologists have been finding pieces of the puzzle proving that parts of it are true and that makes it all the more interesting.

I would highly recommend anyone raising kids to set the example by reading in the evening and cutting the cord. I have taken it upon myself to read when the the gran-daughter stays over...I started reading the Ralph Moody's first book Little Britches to my and she enjoys it. Absolutely. This winter I am reading my kids the entire Chronicles of Narnia series. Next summer or winter will be the Black Stallion series. My oldest just finished all the Little House on the Prarie books on her own.

I've been binge-reading Ian Fleming's Bond novels. Not much like the movies, of course, but taken on their own they're actually good novels. Lots of detail and factual information, and enough action to not be boring.

I read the first version of the Hardy Boys. They made the later versions politically correct.

Don’t recall The Boxcar Children but I did secretly read Nancy Drew at home. Think I was nine or ten at the time and it wasn’t considered “cool” to read a girly book. Having said that, and maybe I’m getting my decades mixed up, I did read all The Adventures of Astrix too!
