Good morning patchers! I thought I'd chime in just to say hi. I'm in an uncharacteristically contemplative mood and wanted to reach out to those I feel a kinship with.

 I concur, regular drivers do a decent job, when I’m on the porch and know they are coming, I try and hand them a coke , kind bar, whatever, now with the Corona they are leery of this.

It pays in the long run to be nice to delivery folks. The big three UPS, USPS, Fedup because you can have the same driver for years and a cold soda or snack insures you get your stuff.

Been talking to my son on the phone today..He's been sitting at a truck in Alabama since yesterday..Waiting out the storm..Mamma has been really upset.He's been doing this for almost 20 years though..He's OK..He's hoping to get his rig back on the road in the morning on his way to Texas.

I managed to finish installing the water heater, washer and dryer. Nothing is ever easy! I had to use all kinds of fittings to get the water heater in, had heck of a time getting the dryer vent in, and had to use a Dremel orbital saw with a carbide blade made for grout to cut through the brass ends on the old hoses for the washer. Worked surprisingly well. I wasted a lot of time before I sawed it. Two pliers, butane torch, penetrating oil, etc. I finally washed the towels I used to clean up from changing the water heater.

Had to get up at 5am to be at the hospital in Longview for my wife's colonoscopy. I dozed off in the waiting room and dropped my phone! 😴

Wildlife active here in our small village. Large Black Bear has taken up temporary residence in the woods along the creek. DItto four bachelor Mule Deer Bucks. A lion has been sighted in and out of there probably after the deer. Small elk heard has moved down from the mesa to clean up the oats and barley grown. Coyotes around and in my yard at night. I am expecting moose to appear, driven down by the forest fires up north in CO. Many of us are mum about sighting with other locals because too many imbeciles with guns. They shoot, they miss and take out people's windows. livestock, or pets.

Looks like you are getting the horrendous rain fall we had in Tallahassee yesterday...over in Ala. some places had 30 inches of rain...we were spared the tornadic activity that sprouted in many places.
Today is cloudy and no rain in forecast...finally!

Nice day in Linden. Got back from wife's test and no cancer found! 😁 Praise God! And her sister just called from Connecticut and told her that her dad died Monday. He had been living up there for the last 9 years, being originally from Alexandria LA. He had just turned 98. They weren't close so she is only a little busted up about it right now. Plus she knew it was coming. We'll have to see what the next week holds. |

Sat in front of the dentist office for 4.5 hours that was supposed to be 1.5 hours. Momma got the three remaining wisdom teeth pulled and the implant stud implanted. Seems I have been waiting on the woman for thirty years so I suppose a few more hours will not hurt me in the long run. Right now she is in pain so I am treading very lightly while I make dinner.

My daughter suddenly decided she was moving last Friday. Found a nice house she and her husband like and reached a deal on it Sunday.
Spent this week getting their house onto the market. A lot of minor work, plastering, paint touch up, deep cleaning .....
Goes onto the market tomorrow.
Thank God! My wife and I are beat.

Actually she has a fantastic immune system. In fact she hasn't had a cold in 44 years that I've known her. This was just because she hasn't had one in 15 years and her ColoGuard test came back with abnormalities which is what had us worried. I guess I should have made that clear, she hasn't had cancer, but I was glad to hear that she still doesn't after the test results. |
