Beautiful day here in NE Texas 😁 Placed an order for lumber to be delivered Monday so I can finish the barn attic and build a ramp for the trike. I explained to the wife that a Kawasaki KLR 650 wouldn't need a ramp and she said that I would break my leg, again. She's right as usual. 🙄 I picked up pile of limbs and made a bonfire for later. Mostly just enjoying being outside before I had to come in and move furniture. 😒

I used to discount the wife's opinion on a lot of stuff, but slowly through the years, I found that she seemed to be able to predict bad results when I did so.
I tend to listen now.

Lots of towns in California remain old school just unaffordable. I am amazed at how so much of the state is really run down compared to the 80’s when I moved there. The smoke from fires was everywhere in the north bay. Flying over the mountains behind Fresno was something else. The wife and I made a tour of northern California in the late 1990s. Visited my old haunts from the 1960s: Bolinas, Mendocino, Eureka, Yreka. I wash shocked how run down everything was. Dirty and scabby. They all used to be tidy, well kept, pretty towns.

I couldn’t believe how shabby so much of Marin county looked crappy. Sure, George Lucas Skywalker ranch I am sure is pretty nice, but I saw multi-Millon dollar homes that if it was mine, I would be looking in another state and cash out.
It is far worse than in the 90’s.
It is sad, California has so much to offer with the climate, and natural beauty, but decades of mismanagement have resulted in the shabby reality they reside in. I think that when you are a frog in slowly heated waters, it informs reality.

36° this morning with clear skies and a slight breeze. I have a client's horse to work after while, then I gotta try and track down the old electrical system in this house and figure out why the 220 outlet for Shweetie's dryer went dead. Ive got a mix of breakers and screw-in fuses scattered throughout a house built in 1930. Should be good times.

It's a lovely day here too. A little chilly but the sun is shining. I did a wedding this afternoon. Now finishing up the pizza that I made. Might have a pipe before the sun goes down.

Success. Got Shweetie's dryer working, made a new training video for the channel, took the client's horse out and she did very well, and got back to the barn all before the wind got bad.
Gonna finish a late lunch then relax with a good smoke.

Sadly, Fresno has been a pretty bad place for a really long time, you are right about the gangs. I almost moved there in the early 1990s. Found a home in the Fig Garden area which I just loved. It was built in 1919 by a veteran who returned from France and wanted to re-create the spire topped three story houses he saw in Normandy. It was double walled white brick with a fig and grape arbor garden which has been a "speakeasy during Prohibition. Great place. Fell through at the last minute and I ended up staying a while longer in Los Angeles.
