Had a panic attack yesterday for no reason that I can tell. I'll be glad when this year is over.

You, me and 99% of the world too Ron! Sadly 2021 can’t get any worse. Here’s to a brighter, better and more optimistic new year.

Wanted to share this.
My Sensei got a message from a well respected Hanshi in Okinawa. He asked my Sensei to visit and bring some of his best students to Okinawa to train. My son and I are invited to go. The trip won’t be likely until April 2022 but to be invited and to possible share this with my son is so amazing.
Some good news for the day👍🏻

Really warm today, snow is melting off pretty fast. This forced inactivity has had an upside though. I'm getting more content recorded on video and uploaded for the horse training channel, and getting caught up on a little bit more of the writing.
Conversely, Im back to drinking too much coffee, and my weight is creeping back up.
(sigh) It's gonna be a long winter.

Snow in the Texas hill country about six inches just west of Segovia at the old homestead. Happy New Year folks.

Getting boring by now, but the dogs and I had another fine run, me in the newly-returned Rhino and them, of course, on foot. Or paws rather. It’s a bit like Xmas to have the buggy back from its hospital stay. I think the dogs are grateful, too, since we can cover a lot more ground now. It was 1° this morning, warming somewhat during the day, but still I don’t like to keep them out on snow and in extreme cold too long. Dog’s feet are “protected” from the cold but I don’t like to push a good thing, even when they are more than willing. Got to wear my new super-warm ushanka from my Russian friend, too. Beautifully made Russian (well, Soviet) officer’s hat with a lovely enameled badge. Ha! First we dismantle them, then we steal their hats! Have to be careful where I wear it though. At least the dogs don’t mind...

I used to have a Boston that was noise-afflicted. My guys now actually LIKE gunfire. And just seeing a gun being unlimbered gets them frantic with excitement. But there’ll be no noise from me tonight. And no neighbors close enough to hear if they made some, which I doubt they will. Around here ammo is supposed to result in table-fare, not noise.

This was a high class hat. I still have it but seldom wear it. Back then, I emerged from my apartment on winter mornings wearing this Ushanka and a double breasted navy blue overcoat over my suit and tie. I walked through my Polish and Ukrainian neighborhood spreading terror amongst my neighbors. Later, I was told that in that hat and coat with my blue eyes and steel rimmed glasses, I looked every inch a KGB official. Hence, my neighbors discomfort. I switched to a rain coat and fedora.

Had to pick up a few groceries and a bunch of prescriptions. Wore my wool fedora and the Carhartt chore coat. They shed ice water well. Rained all last night and all day today.

Coyotes in the pasture surrounding my critters and yipping and howling.
Discharged a round from the old Krag. That always quiets them down.

I hate in when coyotes pack-up. Especially bad around calving time.

I bought myself a fedora earlier this week. It's to arrive tomorrow, but I doubt that. Things are taking a lot longer these days!
