The wife and I binge-watched the Rowan Atkinson Maigrats, all four of them. I thought they were really very, very good. She warmed up to them after the first one. I understand that Simonen fans like other actors in the Maigret role better, perhaps because of physical characteristics, but I thought Atkinson was extremely good in this part...and certainly it was a great contrast to so many of the "Mr. Bean" roles he's done.
Highly recommended...but I wish he'd tamp his pipe and light it correctly more often...LOL.

I have not watched a movie in a long time. I no longer have the patience to sit there for that long.
One of the last ones I recall was "The 39 Steps" with Robert Donat.

I'm not all about Luke so it makes more sense to me. Also, the animated series "Clone Wars" takes place somewhere in between II & III and I'd recently finished watching all of them. Sort of a Star-Geek i suppose!

"To Have and Have Not" 1944 Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall Good. Enjoyed it, but it isn't as good as "Casablanca". Both movies have pretty much the same story line.

This thread and the thread on revolvers, reminds me of one of the best lines in a movie.
In "Quigley Down Under", early in the movie Tom Selleck, a long distance marksman, is handed a revolver - to which he remarks that he's never had much use for one.
At the end of the movie he is forced to use a revolver in a gun fight against 3 men at once.
They go for their guns and Tom Selleck's character draws the revolver they had stuck in his belt.
He fans off 3 shots in less than 1 second and they all 3 drop.
He walks up on the main "bad guy" who is dying and says:
"I said I never had much use for one, not that I didn't know how to use it."
Good movie.

The Old Guard on Netflix. Not bad for a comic book movie. Gives you a little bit more to think about than most.

1917. Agree with Dino's comments earlier. Not a great film by any stretch but I found it quite moving at times.

On Netflix The Devil All The Time, good flick, poor scrabble family in Virginia saga. Also Enola Holmes, Sherlock’s little sister solves a case, wife and I thought is was very good.

I like Sherlock Holmes stories and pastiches so I watched Enola Holmes. I'm not sure that counted.

"The Haunting", 1963.
This is more than a Haunted House story. A brilliant psychological drama of repressed emotions. I never realized this movie was Julie Harris' masterpiece.

Mission Impossible does it really matter which one. Tom Cruise tries to play 007 as only a punk can.

Quo Vadis? Getting ready for the hearings on the nominee for Supreme Court Justice. 😉 Kinda hokey by today's standards, but I give it a 9/10.

Rewatched The Green Mile, took wife's aunt in after Hurricane wiped her house off the map. One night I had The Green Mile on and she was mezerized, wasn't too long she passed away. We talked about her interest in the film, so last night we rewatched it. Loved it again.

Watched Bladerunner 2049 again. 1st time was in the theater and the sound was so loud that we couldn't pay attention. It's long and confusing, but we like it. 👍 👍 👍

Recently watched “Greyhound “ on Apple TV starring Tom Hanks. Very well done movie including accurate accounts of the Atlantic Convoy with just enough Hollywood thrown in to give the movie that added spice. Worth watching even for a retired Army Officer like myself who tends to poo poo anything Navy. Good ol service rivalry.

The family watched "Quigley Down Under" for about the 100th time a couple of nights ago. It never gets old, definitely in our top 5 favorites of all time.

We're watching Disney animated movies from the beginning. Last night was the original Fantasia. Lots of good parts mixed with some really slow and slightly dull scenes. Overall, a solid B plus. Next up, Pinocchio.
