Ham,Pork Chops,Sausage,Bacon, and Pork Skins..It all comes from Pigs..America needs a lot of them..Some folks here in N.Carolina have taken up that challenge..I just read that there more than 9 million pigs in the state..That's more pigs than people in the state...Someone fire up the grill.

I was riding along a farm road this morning and there was a hog down in the ditch munching away and watching us go buy. If I had been by myself I would have plugged that sucker. It was too big to get on the back of my trike by myself though. Had to be 200+. We just need to transform all the wild hogs into sausage.

Living in northern California we often hunted the feral hogs. Lived on oak acorns and old orchard fruits and betties, they were well fed and excellent eating.
I once raised one for slaughter and will never do that again. Far more pet-like than I can stand. Just too intelligent. I try not to think about them when I am in the meat section.

Can't eat it, food allergy. This might be the greatest tragedy in human history. Romeo and Juliet don't have squat on this. Seriously.

The feral hogs are so bad here in Texas, you don't even need a hunting license to shoot them, and there's no bag limits.

You forgot to add they taste like chewing on a wild greasy sage branch and just as tough. Do folks in other parts of the country cook the whole pig buried in a pit or between two grates flattened like here in the south.

Last feral I got the shoulders went into a 10 gallon pot of chili, along with some beef and venison...good chili. If I had more venison it would've been good sausage.

One of the worst smells around is a pig farm.

Texas produces beef, mostly. We saw a bunch of chicken factories while on vacation in NE Texas, but we didn't notice any particular smell. Cattle feed lots can smell really awful, but they don't hold a candle to the pig factories. Maybe it's because I have been smelling cattle since I was little and am used to it.

Pigs get a bad rap because they like to play in mud so one assumes they are dirty. But if you have been around pigs for the most part they only relieve themselves in one corner or the pin. Pigs and man share a lot of DNA and their skin can be used for grafts and even their hearts have been transplanted in humans with some success. Of the domesticated animals I think they are the most intelligent.

I raised pigs as a kid (Yorkshires)... they are affectionate animals, and I felt like I was killing Old Yeller.
I love poek products, it is better for me to buy it from the atore.

It's not domestic hogs themselves that stink, but the huge factories that concentrate the smell in rivers of shite running from the factory buildings.

Conditions in giant feed lots pretty much all stink the same thing can be said for most major cities. It is almost always best to live uphill and upwind of both. We had a cute pig when i was growing up as it thought it was a dog. Like Charlie we ended up eating the cute thing. We also would buy Charolais calves to bring to butcher.

You must have been upwind because chicken farms smell like an ammonia plant exploded.

AMMONIA PLANT, Oh yes indeed...some years back A friend got me three trash bags of droppings, from a chicken farm near his home. The ammonia smell was so strong that I had to run the stuff through my compost piles for three years before I could work with it...no more for me thanks!!
