I posted that on my Facebook page...so far my former pastor volunteered to be my butler, cousins offered to be gardeners, maids, and house staff. When you look at the 2 million dollar properties in Arizona, and compare to that for 1.6 Million, it isn't even close as to the bang for the buck here....It would be nice to be in a place to where I could say "I will take that!" and spend 6 hot months of desert life there. Yeah, don't truck drivers make that kind of money now?

If I had made different decisions at critical junctures in my life, that would be my 2nd home.
I failed to catch the Delorean with Marty McFly and get the stock reports.

If money, a lot of money, were no object it would be a castle in Scottland around by the village of Whithorn, where my family name originated in the 5th century.
A villa on Lake Como Italy, one of prettiest places I've ever seen.
A ski chalet in Wengen Switzerland, another one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. And finally, where I am now...
Pinehurst North Carolina.
We've been here 15 years now and I really love this little community...

I think I missed this topic. Where would I live? Right exactly where I am at the moment. On my first trip to Ireland, long ago now, I felt that I had been there before. No, I’m not one of “those” past-life folks. I just felt fully, completely, enormously at home and... “familiar” with the place and the people. Friends there keep telling me I will wind up there. I won’t. I’ve seen too often what happens when outlanders move there, and other “ideal places.”
I’ve traveled all over the Celtic world and could probably write a book about the differences between places in it., from the Outer Hebrides, to the Highlands, to the west coast of Ireland, etc.
I’m way too much of an American to live full-time anywhere else. I’d love to spend a few months in Basque Spain, in France, in rural Italy— so many places, so little time left. Cloudcroft is magnificent, by the way. Cajun country is rich in great food and wonderful, genuine people. New Mexico is rich in so many ways.
But I’m Here. Deeply immersed in... home. And happy about it. Fun to think of other places though. And harmless. Mostly.
Tis' the gift to be simple, tis' the gift to be free, tis' the gift to come down where you ought to be

I may have mention before, Scotland. Probably the western Highlands or any where north of the big cities. Some acreage, a tower house like "Fatlip's" place. I could make do with a small stone cottage and garden.

Hey I love that place. I wouldn't mind moving.

Back in Huntington Beach. I miss the beach and I got a lot of family and friends in SoCal still. I think Vermont would be neat to.

All else being equal, probably somewhere in Southern California. I'm a huge Dodgers fan, and the weather can't be beat (unless you like rain or cold).

I'd love a condo or townhouse with no lawn to mow or snow to shovel.

Had an upscale Condo in small fishing village, parking problems, folks visiting other Cindo owners parked in my space sometimes couldn’t get out . Tired of that 💩, moved on my 81 acre farm, plenty of parking, DONT have to ask someone to move their car.

It would be nice to have a summer home/cabin in the mountains of Arizona, I could be a snowbird with a short ride between the two homes.
The concept of a condo/ townhome is somewhat appealing, but for the reasons Brad mentioned, a funky neighbor can make life miserable.

Every time I see New Zealand on a screen I'm blown away by it's natural beauty. Settle for just visiting some day. Will bring my own tobacco.

Years ago I was listening to Art Bell and he was interviewing a seismologist and the subject of New Zealand came up. He was talking about Christchurch in particular, and said that potentially if a volcano in that area breaks loos it will be hell on earth if the volcano collapsed and the cold water rushed in. Still, a beautiful country indeed.

Doublewide Trailer in the middle of 100 acres in Alabama, Georgia, or the Carolina's, with a tractor shed, full workshop, and a Grocery store and Pharmacy within 20 miles. How' bout them apples?

Still, a beautiful country indeed. One in Iceland erupted a couple of weeks ago for the first time in 6,000 years. Expected to continue for years. If it really let go would be devastating to Europe and possibly even North America. Not much could be done but I guess the forecasting will continue to improve.

Oh, I'm gonna get there, and I'm not coming back. When you're an old fart like me, though, things like "is it close to good health care?' start creeping into your dream home fantasies.

When you're an old fart like me, though, things like "is it close to good health care?' start creeping into your dream home fantasies. LoL! Yeah that and No Stairs! That is the truth. I have two steps in my house separating the two halves. I had to install a vertical pole to assist me up and down. Even these two are a challenge. My roof deck? FOrget about it. I have no desire to climb the staircase or descend it.

When you reach a "certain" age— to be determined by user— it's a case of "Here I am, and here I stay." There's some consolation in that. It's clear; it's definite; and it's final. A bonus is if it suits you. I could certainly wish for closer quality health care. But since that's folly I won't waste my time. It's fun to think about alternatives though, some of which might have been achievable if I had been on a different path. Harmless brain jogging, which we are all allowed.

THe idea of moving again is beyond comprehension. I have enough trouble just putting on a pair of pants, socks and shoes in the morning.

I'd love to try living in a place like Mombasa, Timbuktu or Kandahar. They all have such pretty names.
