Hi all; I have 2 questions. 1. is there a tobacco match for blood red moon & 2. I get a yellowish white crust on my pipe stems by the mouth piece that scrapes off easily. Is that from my saliva and what if anything can I do to solve the problem? Thank-you for your response. herman

Cant help you on the tobacco. However, the stuff on your stems is likely the vulcanite stem oxidizing. This is a commons issue, just buff it off once a week or so and dont be too worried about it. (If its not an ebonite / vulcanite stem then disregard.)

Post a pic and you will have a specific answer to your stem issue.
On the BRM, are you having a hard time finding it or to expensive for you or what? There is a Lane cherry that is pretty good but I can't think of the name. Someone will know shortly.
Lane Dark Red - it came to me haha.

I read there was a cockup in processing for BRM, and it should be on shelves soon. That's what I READ, not directly from Lane themselves.

Wipe down and dry the stem after each smoke and see if that helps. Won't cure it, but may slow oxidation.

P&C Had BRM in stock the last time I looked. 2 - Yes, and nothing you can do. Just wipe the stem down after each smoke.

I would agree that the stuff on the stem is probably from saliva, and a wipe down after a smoke will fix that. Oxidation doesn't really scrape off.
As for BRM - I can't help there, but others have been more than helpful. However, I've seen a few people recommend Samuel Gawith Celtic Talisman as a decent cherry blend. I have a tin, but I've yet to pop it.

I've never had blood red moon, but everyone seems to be referencing cherry. Try KBV's Dark Fired Cherry.

Obsidian oil is magic stuff. Only for prevention. It won't remove oxidation. The OP is referring to lip and saliva residue after smoking.

I've never had blood red moon, but everyone seems to be referencing cherry. Try KBV's Dark Fired Cherry. It's good, but it's not close to the BRM. BRM has a much stronger cherry flavor and a milder tobacco flavor. I have tried a lot of cherry blends, but nothing compares to the first half of a bowl of BRM. I got tired of the second half. YMMV.
