While concocting dinner, the wife and I watched an HBO production of Western Stars by Bruce Springsteen. It is centered on his property near Joshua Tree National Park, and has a western theme to it. It was very well done, and the homage he paid to Jimmy Webb and Glen Campbell at the last song was quite poignant for me.
I was hired as a temp on the Bruce Springsteen tour on a leg that took us from LA to Boston when I was on a temporary layoff in 2008. I was less than impressed at how Bruce handled the hired help at the time. He seemed like a Prima-Donna, and the rest of the crew of the E street band was the polar opposite. In retrospect, like so many things in life, I guess that I should not have informed me on my perception of a person in such a short glimpse from my perspective. If you do not subscribe to HBO but have an Apple account, you can get a 7 day free trial and watch it if so inclined.

I used to like his music before he got so political.
