Good day to all.
First, thank you for allowing me to join your forum, I am pretty picky about where I hang my hat and hope we can both live up to each others expectations.
Second...the name is a long standing/running joke from my gaming days, and is in fact very opposite of who I really am.
Now, who I really I am. I am an Ex-Pat from the great State of Texas currently and probably forever living in Colorado. I got to Colorado by way of Belgium all thanks to the Army.
I am a 20 year retired Army Military Policeman, married to an amazing woman, have a 16 year old daughter and 2 pups.
I enjoy Scotch, Cigars, making my own beer, and almost any activity where I can combine them.
I started pipe smoking briefly while living in Brussels, wow 10 years ago now, but did not stick with it -tongue bite - So I have a few pipes already, but I am looking to get 2 nice cobs to restart this adventure.

adding my greets/welcome from 50miles East of Buffalo, NY. Nice intro by the way mr. gang. Far as I know, I'm the oldest of the geezer party here, 12/29/40 & still mostly upright. Many yrs of xperimenting with all types of baccy, pipes etc, now a dedicated lata-holic for past 15 yrs. Do have a few cobs handy for yard work, otherwise all briars with Lucite stems. mid-price range cigars also do well with yard work. As others before, welcome to this fine place (am also at the chats most evenings after 11pm Eastern. Grands + 3 great-grands scattered all over, both "blood" & steps. Can't afford pets now, politics related.

Hey guys, I am looking around trying to find a section where there are recommendations for blends for the new smoker.
Back in 2008/9 when i was starting out I remember trying and liking the long gone Frog Morton's, I also remember having Squadron Leader, but not sure if i liked it or not.
I am looking for some "entry" level introductions to Aromatics and English or Crossover low Lat blends.
Of course I will take any and all advice with gratitude....

May I recommend butternut burley as a beginning tobacco..if you are looking for an English you might try Arango Balkan Supreme.

I stopped by my Local B&M and on a whim picked up some Sutliff 150 Mark Twain and a new MM Cob, but I might gift the pipe to a friend for his birthday.
I have a MM Ozark that I think may be new or only smoked a few times, or a Boswell from 2008 that i might fire up in a bit

Welcome from Virginia, Peter Stockkebye's #17 English Luxury is a fine smoke ,and very nearly a crossover, but my favorite of late is Triple Crown, a bulk blend from Milan tobacconist of Roanoke Virginia.

McG Just in case you don't already know about it, be sure to check out tobaccoreviews.com. It won't exactly suggest blends for you, but is a treasure trove of info as you start researching blends you hear about. When you find a blend you like, you can use tobaccoreviews to find similar blends. Oh, and welcome from western WA! |

Welcome. My tobacco journey is moving in the opposite direction, in that I've smoked a pipe for about 30 years but have picked up cigars in the last year, and am smoking the cigars quite a bit more than the pipes these days. But we enjoy 'em all.  |
