I was going through my Emails and saw this... www.eacarey.com/7893.htmlA good entry level churchwarden for someone who doesn't want to spend a lot finding out if a churchwarden is the right pipe for them.

You think spending $51.95 for a basket quality churchwarden is a good deal?

Looks to me like the pipe is on sale for $20.00. Hard to argue that money on a whim.

You need to scroll down just a scoochie and read where it says it is only $20 after you spend $25 and along with minimum shipping of $6.95 that now makes that pipe technically a $51.95 pipe and actually even more than that since most items on the site is at about a brick and mortar retail price.

OK, I see what you mean. Still, tobacco and a pipe for $51.95 is a good deal. I'm sure I could easily come up with enough tins to qualify for the pipe deal. I don't know if I'd classify a Carey pipe as a basket one but I've never owned one.

It is a H.I.S. which is Hugo International Series made by Gardesana Rosa pipee which is a mass producing machine made basket pipe company. Just my thoughts but a normaly priced $39.95 mass produced machine made pipe at a tobacconist is just another basket pipe. pipedia.org/wiki/Gardesana

I used to have a H.I.S. Churchwarden actually and the thing had a terrible hotspot. The drilling and airflow was around the Dr. Grabow quality range if I remember. I paid 25 for mine at a local B&M and overall didn't regret the purchase. It did have obvious fills as well. Would I buy one now...probably not because I'm investing lately in a higher value collection. It's an okay entry level pipe, just not at 50 some dollars in my opinion. If it came with two tins, that price wouldn't be off. It's Italian briar if I remember.
