Anyone here enjoy or like vintage firearms. What is your favorite double barrel shotgun or more than one. A little over a year ago my cousin gave me an LC Smith grade 5 last winter I had a fellow restore it. It came out amazing. I was into guns 30 years before I got into pipes.

My favorite kind of shotgun. Here's mine. It's actually a really cheap one my brother-in-law gave to me, but he gussied it up with a fancy stock, carved a grouse and a quail on the receiver, pressed gold leaf into the engravings, replaced all the internals, laser sighted it, added a buttpad and white spacers, carved a rear sight notch, and other stuff I can't remember. Then he got me inserts to shoot 28, 410 and even 357/38s. It's no LC, but it's pretty.

LCS or not, that's a very nice looking SXS.
When I was 15 my dad bought me my first big-boy shotgun. I had inherited his 20-ga single but wanted a 12. For $25 he bought me a 12-ga "hammer-gun." Sometimes these are called "farmer guns" but this one was unusual. I've never seen one similar since. Instead of the 30" and 32" barrels as seen on most hammer guns, this one had a 24" nitro steel barrel. I hunted with that ol' reliable for many years until a Browning Citori O/U seduced me away from it. Still have it and it brings up a lot of memories when I fondle it.
Double-guns are special.

My dad had a hammerless Zoli-Rizini 12 gauge S X S.
It was very light, chambered only for 2 3/4 inch shells. Pointed beautifully and killed many birds.
I have a Stoeger 20 inch choked, 12 gauge. Chambered for 3 inch shells. Very handy.
I have long admired S X S.

I had a Stoeger Coach gun that my wife got me. I made the mistake of shooting it with buckshot and slugs. I was black and blue for a couple of weeks.. My friend was shooting his J. Stevens 12ga that was labeled as Property of the Illinois Bureau of Prisons. It was a little loose, which is pretty scary if you think about it. Anyway, I had to sell it in an economic downturn. I know that she paid $125 for it and I sold it for the same amount. If you look at the current price you can see what the dollar is really worth.

When my family did cowboy action shooting I used a fox side by side to shoot It was a lot of fun to shoot especially with black powder shotgun loads. Boom giant cloud of smoke and me with a dumb grin on my face.

I had a 10gauge sxs in Alaska years ago. The bbl was cut down to 16", and I carried 3 1/2" magnum 00buck in it for coastal brown bear back-up. It had 2 triggers, so you could fire both bbls simultaneously.
I weighed 145 lbs at the time, never needed to use it, never had the nerve to shoot it.
The guy who bought it from me fired it from the hip, pulled both triggers at the same time...and promptly went to the hospital.
Only shotgun Ive ever owned.

The only double barrel I've had was a Charles Daly side by side 20 ga. I bought it used about 25 years ago, and I don't remember too much about it other than it was a real pretty gun, and it was made in Italy. I was told that it was probably Beretta that made it, but who knows. I sold it not too long after because for some reason it hammered the crap out of my shoulder, and yes I know how to hold and shoot shotguns and other long guns. In fact I had a 12 ga single shot that was easier on me. I wouldn't mind having another nice double gun, but most are too expensive for me, so I'll stick with my 1937 Browning Auto-5, Remington Wingmaster 870, and old Mossberg 500.

I have an old 1908 Field Grade Parker 16 Ga SbS. Great upland weapon for grouse and quail. Also have a Daily 12 ga OaU that will take down a pheasant like a champ.

I think I need to get a shotgun since it's about the only thing you can buy ammo for around here.
What's the ammo situation for everybody?

Luckily, my tobacco hunting skills come in handy when there is an ammo drop. lol There's a decent supply of shotgun shells for hunting, but buck shot and slugs are hard to find. I'm in the US.

I visit with an older guy who restores and repairs old Parkers. He has a very large collection and shoots them at the trap range. He has showed me a few of them.

Sorry I didnt get the quote deal right again. I get it figured out soon. I was at his shop and he handed me a hammered Parker 8 gauge I think it was built for market hunting or taking the whole end out of a single wide trailer

I have looked with concealed longing at the fine 410 and 28-ga doubles in the “gun library” at Cabelas on several occasions. Their prices, of course, are absurd and I would NEVER consider paying them. But I have seen some super-sweet little doubles there.

Well, according to that renowned firearms expert, Uncle Joe, all anyone needs is a shotgun...and two rounds at a time should be enough. (Sarcasm included in this post at no extra cost)
